whats everyone im new to this forum. ive been boxing for about eight months now and i love it. started spawing about a month ago and again i love it. the only problem im having is my nose always seems to bleed after a couple jabs. by the end i have blood all over the place. just wondering if any one else has a weak nose like myself and if they have any tips to prevent it, other than keeping my hands up and bob and weave, lol. as of right now im taking several days of from spawing to let the nose hopefully clear up. but i know it will still bleed once i get back in.
thanks in advance.

Theres a guy that goes to Larry Holmes gym thats like that. After like 5 jabs to the nose he's bleeding. I my self have only gotten 1 bloody nose from a punch. In total, I think Ive gotten 5 or 6 bloody noses in my life.
thanks for the reply

Yeah, don't get hit in the nose. Just kidding, the nose is where I get hit most. I'm typicaly walking around with a swollen nose, its swollen from sparring on Wedsday. But there's nothing you can really do except maybe try not to get hit in the nose clean.
im not sure a lot can be done for a weak nose, id make an apoitment to see your doctor and tell him you box but you have a weak nose, maybe he will be able to help you out more than me. im not sure if theres even surjery they could do to rectify this unless your nose bleeds because its been broken out of shape.

ive had my nose broke and had my nose fixed several times so i know more than most about this, a weak nose ive never heard of though in boxing. :)
lol put some coagulant on two little pieces of kleenex and stick them up your nose, only problem is you'll have to breath of your mouth, other than that, eventually your nose will get stronger and be able to take more shots until it starts bleeding again, but allow proper time for it to heal each time.
thanks everyone

thanks for all the advice i really appreciate it. on a side note i did brake my nose years ago and never had it properly fixed so maybe this has something to do with it. but i will try the coagulant and hopefully over time it will just get stronger.
I would say it definitely has something to do with that Peter. Welcome to the board and we would love for you to stick around! Also, I have fought a guy before who had a bloody nose after a few decent jabs, and it startled me that he was bleeding so soon. I would definitely check it out with a Doctor and see what he/she says. Good luck dude.
nose

ya im definatly going to take the next four five day off from fighting, ill just work out. i can see inside my nose theres a decent gash and its always in the same spot. so first ill let it heal and then take it from there.
thanks so much for making me feel so welcome in your forum. im glad i found it.
The other day at boxing, I got done sparring, and an old timer walked over to me. We got talking and apparently he is Rocky Castellani's cousin. For those of you who don't know who Rocky Castellani is, he was a great middle weight in the 40's and 50's. He almost beat Sugar Ray Robinson, and fought Carl "Bobo" Olsen, and a few other big names. Well, anyway this guy said he had about 7 or 8 pro fights, and had to retire because of his nose. He said he fought in the late 50's, and had an all right record. I beleived him because his nose was all crooked and pushed in. You could tell his nose was broken pretty bad before. Anyway's, he said he had to reire because his nose was broken very badly, and it screwed up his sinesses too. Well, he couldn't bleed out of his nose anymore because, some how his nose got soooooo screwed up that the blood would chanel down into his throat, so it was rather dangerous because he was swollowing so much blood in the fight. I checked out his name on boxrec, and his record was 6-1 (2 KO's). He's a really nice guy.

Hey no problem dude. This is the best boxing board on the net so stick around
I can honestly say, in 17 years, my nose has never even bled once lol. Is that a bit strange? Iv probably took full on football to the nose plenty of times in my life, strange its never bled:p
Not strange at all. I have never had a drop of blood come from my nose and I box regularly.
Guess some people are just like that. The only time i have ever bled badly full stop was when i had a brick thrown at my head:laugh:
I got shot right above the eye with a BB gun when I was little. I also have been shot at outside a nightclub in Dallas. I had my left pinky finger grinded through the gears of an oldschool cement mixer when I was around ten, but my nose has never bled ;)
i think it because my nose never healed right when i broke it the first time. infact the boney area that always gets cut feels sharp like a blade. it seems the slightest presure against the skin will push the skin through the edgy bone and it will easliy cut open, if that makes sense. its like putting a knife against your skin. its not going to cut it until theres pressure put upon it. either that or i have a weak nose, lol, what a whimp.
No way dude. Not a wimp at all. It is your biology. You can't help that.
If you fight through the bloody nose then your the complete opposite to a whimp man:)
my nose has bleed twice, the first time i ever got hit with a jab, and then when i got my nose broken back in 2000. Other than that, the occasional no reason at all nose bleed is the only other time it seems to bleed. but yeah your not wimp if you can fight threw it.
