I could use some advice. I have never boxed before but am in great shape. I run a lot and do a lot of body weight excercises. I am bored with running and I am interested in boxing for cardio fitness (heavy bag, speed bag, jump rope, etc). Is this all I need to get started?

I have a garage and plenty of room. Should I buy a separate heavy bag or can I buy a combo heavy bag, speed bag on a pedestal? Can you recommend good equipment? I also do not want to learn bad habits. Is there a great book out there that teaches you form?

Thanks so much,
Steven

The best thing to do is go to your local boxing gym

Its a lot better if start there

You cant really learn boxing from a book. You have to practice your craft in the gym day after day. Thats how you will improve as time goes by

Exactly you'll find it much more enjoyable and rewarding if you box properly and that way you'll meet new people ;)
