I like boxing, I wouldn't say I'm the biggest boxing fan but I do like to watch from time to time. What gets me in boxing is there are too many weight classes, too many organizations, and too many belts. I honestly don't know the difference between WBC, IBF, WBA and the WBO. How come there can be different champions? Couldn't there just be 1 unified champion? Or are boxers under contracts between the different organizations?

i am with you on the alpha. belts
now they are calling them belt holders.
and a unified belt holder the champion.
for example baldomir is the rchampion because he beat the unified champion zab.
but baldomir did not pay the fees for all the alpha.belts he just paid for one.
so he gets that one belt but he is still the only champion.
floyd paid for all the alpha.belts so when he beat zab he bacame the belt holder not the champion.
i hope this helps.

There are 6 belts. THATS TO MANY!!!!!!!!!!! There should be one, and only one. Its not saying much to be champ now. When someone unifys all of the blts I'll start paying attention to them.

What they should do is have one big tournament of all the champions. The prize would be the unifaction of all the belts. That would make loads of money and it would be entertaing.

i am with you 1000% on this one.
but sad to say you would see alot of the "BIG DOGS" SURRENDER THEIR BELTS.
just not to fight a guy or not to take a chance getting a "L" on their perfect records.

that is what don king did with the middle weight division. the only good thing i can remember don king doing.

its nearly impossible to unify these days. all the titles come with a #1 contender and if you dont want to face that guy you have to relinquish, but as erik said the ring mag #1 guy is the real champ.

Money is also a factor. Like say in the heavys why risk your title to unify if you can keep defending it against lesser competittion. And still sell it as a heavyweight title fight.

I know this will never happen, but to clean up all of the champions they should have one BIG tournament to unify all of the belts. That would rake in clear over 50 million, but in the long run it would hurt all of the organazations (I know I spelled that wrong, but I don't really care).

I think one organization must make the other champions the automatic #1 contenders to clear the way for the unified holder. but this won't happen as all organizations view themselves the superior and don't want to dismantle the revenue streams they receive from HBO, fighters. etc.
