It appears the recent comments in the press by son Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and his brother, Roger Mayweather, have hit a nerve with Floyd Mayweather, Sr., who told the Grand Rapids Press that he will no longer involve himself in the May 5 fight between Floyd Jr. and Oscar De La Hoya.

Floyd Sr. said that because of the comments, he never returned to Floyd Jr.'s training camp and will not be part of the fight next week. We all knew that it was coming when brother Roger made some borderline comments with a negative twist towards Floyd Sr. when asked by media members if he will take advise from his brother towards a strategy on how to beat De La Hoya.

The situation went further downhill due to comments there were made by Floyd Jr. and Roger, on HBO's De La Hoya-Mayweather 24/7 mini-series on HBO.

"We're back to square one," Floyd Sr. said. "That's where we're at, we're back at the beginning. I do want to get back together with Little Floyd. I do want to get to know my grandkids. But if he doesn't want it to happen, so it will be. Roger talks all that (stuff) on TV, but what champions has he made? I made Floyd Mayweather Jr., and even he knows that. That foundation was already laid, long before Roger. Roger shouldn't even comment on things that went on between me and Little Floyd. Floyd is only 30 years old, and Roger has lived in Las Vegas for 26, 27 years. He was never there to know."

"Your kids are looking, your grandmother's looking, your family's looking. You don't say stuff like that. What is he getting out of that?" Mayweather Sr. said. "I don't know why he's willing to be portrayed as the bad guy. It's reality TV, and you can say something wrong, and they catch you. That's one thing. But he looks right in the camera and says it."

"I didn't do anything to Floyd except care. And when you get right down to it, he didn't do anything for me. Everything I've got, I got from De La Hoya. I don't care if it is his uncle. To say he's loyal to Roger, when I'm the one who gave him life? What is he talking about? I've been careful not to say anything bad about anybody this camp, and I don't even think Little Floyd should be speaking on it."

Even with all of the bad blood, Floyd Sr. still hopes that his son beats De La Hoya on May 5.

"If Little Floyd fights the right fight, there's no way he should lose," Floyd Sr. said. "You never know, because sometimes people get brave, and they forget to be cautious. But I definitely think he should be able to outbox Oscar."

This is true. He will outbox Oscar :)
Sr. is an idiot.
Roger can't speak but is a good trainer.
Floyd is the man.
your are out of your mind my friend . like I said way back probably before you stated to come to this site the Floyd sr. thing would come back to hunt them all closer to the fight .they can't help themselves they are full Springer material!! no amount of money can change the lack of class they have shown the whole country during this 24/7 series and I will say it again shame on HBO for trying (but failing) to make this class less chump!! a star he is no star he will never be a star he lacks that quality!!
this comes as no surprise 3 ego's like snr, jr and roger. sommin had to give.
It wont hurt him at all. Floyd has been just fine with Roger throughout his career. If anything Sr. being there threw everyone off. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

very true.

lil floyd got the low down on oscar from his daddy and imo thats all he had him around for, im not a jnr fan lol but as you say he brought nuffin "style wise to the table that could improve jnr.
Exactly. I have never been a floyd SR. fan at all. I don't like Roger when he is away from the ring but he is a damn good trainer for Floyd.
Boy you see what you wanna see but the man that created that ungratefull monster said it himself "HE HOPES HIS SON WINS" and "HOPES HE DOES'NT GET TOO BRAVE FOR HIS OWN GOOD" who the hell has Roger created ,the sculture was allready finished he just keeps it shiny, don't go giving himm the credit as a great trainer when his just lucky SR was a little to hard on that crybaby I can't wait ,I would love to see your face when the anouncer says and stilllll...
I will be there so you might see my face as he says and newww. Anyways I never said Roger is a great trainer. I said he is a damn good trainer FOR FLOYD. Keep on hoping for an Oscar upset. It ain't gonna happen.
We'll see home boy We'll see Oscar is no push over and that kid never tasted one in the kisser we'll see who's right
Never tasted one in the kisser? Step up your fight history. Zab sat Floyd back with a clean shot. He has been popped many times. I agree that Oscar is far from a push over but it still doesn't matter.

i dont think floyds chin is in doubt at the lower weights but oscar at 154 is a totaly diffrent animal to zab and corley.

The biggest question is will Oscar land that clean, solid shot that hits Floyd with everything? If that happens it will be the determining factor of the fight.

If Floyd survives it...
1.) It wont happen again.
2.) Oscar will be devastated.

I just hope Floyd gets somewhat tested before winning the fight clearly. Either that or if he SOMEHOW managed a TKO. I would love it.

oscar is probably the most accurate fighter in boxing today so imo yes he will land. he's also a devasting finnisher.
