OMG I can't belive how this went down. I hate nevada judges and am now worried about the OSCAR and FLoyd fight. I had Barerra winning 115 to 113. There was a definate knockdown and jay Nady ruled horribly. Screw Nevada. Barerra clearly won this fight and I am pissed as ever. What a take away.

i missed this one, was it worth watching or a bad fight?

ill catch it on youtube i suppose.
Agreed

Definately a great fight until the scorecards. I am already suspect of Las Vegas scoring and now I am very discouraged to purchase any more PPV fights there. I would have been more than happy to give Marquez a one or two round win for the title but not 5 or 8 rounds. Definately watch the fight on YouTube or on a re-run but just shut it off after the 12th round.
It seemed like the judges weighed Marquez's powershots heavier than the slight technical edge Barrera seemed to have and I do mean slight. With that said I still think Marquez won the fight but not by as much as the score indicated.

The fight was great, minimal clinching lots of punches landing.

I dont see how you can say either guy CLEARLY won. I thought a draw was coming about half way through the fight.

I scored it for Marquez 115-112 but can see a win by a few points either way.

I was very surprised by the one judge only giving 2 rounds to Barrera. If any fighter woulda had the judges on thier side I woulda thought Golden boys fighter would.

I have never liked Jay nady & tonight we saw again that he is way overated.
He is not even in the top 5 refs in Nevada.
I dont know WTF jay nady was thinking on that part in the 7th round. whether it was a slip or a knockdown he took weeks to get in there. it was HIS bad that barrera reacted how he did because i also felt like he was getting back up at the time.
ive never liked nady since he showed bias towards floyd.
Was pathetic. I am so against nevada scoring, as I had it ecatchly the same as H. Lederman. Barerra 115 marques 113. Pitiful no call on the obvious knockdown . Marquez was the better boxer clearly and this fight hurt me. I broke down and bout it for a (pardon me) bull**** decision.

So at least you think the right guy won :dunno:
I meant to say Barerra, my bad. The 7th round was definately a knockdown. I am getting sick of my scorecards being nearly identical to lederman's who I think scores it right everytime, and the "judges" scoring it so far from our cards. They need to do something to improve the accuracy here.

Was the Taylor/Hopkins fight in Nevada and what about Taylor/Winky? Just curious. The fight was worth the money but the results were not.

Taylor vs Winky waas in Tenn & both Taylor vs Hopkins fights where in Vegas.

The scoring in those fights where at least close. No 118-109 on any of those cards.

I agree. I was expecting the fight to be a draw or either fighter to win by a point or two. Some of the rounds were very close and I thought they could go either way.

It kind of ruins the experience to have the fight so horribly misscored even if the correct fighter won. Makes you feel like the judges were watching a different fight or perhaps paid off.

I personally felt like Barerra did enough to win the fight but I wouldn't think it a total robbery if the decsion went to Marquez by a point or two.
i dont know why they score like that

i dont know why they score like that in that night.. if marquez is gonna win, the difference should be 2-3 rounds..not 8 rounds.. Demetrius Hopkins win over Steve Forbes was questionable.. Forbes dominated that fight..and the if Daniel Ponce de Leon really won over Gerry Penalosa, the margin should not be 7 or 8 rounds...i don't know..its maybe the climate or the food in las vegas that make those judges have that kind of wierd decisions...:dunno:

Marquez is also part of golden boy so that would not have any effect on the outcome. I had Marquez winning also, but not by 8 rounds. but as some have stated many rounds were close, and could have gone either way. it would be a totally different fight if you watched it without the volume on. Lampely was all about barrera sat. night. dont get me wrong, he could have won the fight too. either way, it was a damn good fight and i'm glad i shelled out the 50 bucks to watch!!!! i would pay to see a rematch also.

Hello & welcome to the board.
the fight was one of the only fights worth paying for in a long time we all got our money's worth and the fight was close I did score it for Marquez because in my view he pushed the fight and set the pace but only by two points and with the knock down (if it was counted correctly) and without the foul by barrera the fight is a draw. is that simple. the Judges were way of the mark unless the punches were more impresssive live I don't see how it could have been scored the way it was.
the Hopkins was a robbery I am no fan of Forbes but he won the fight clean.
I do not understand how so many people including every one of the commentators were baffled at the horrible scoring and nothing is done about it. Is there no justice that goes along with something like this? I may sound crazy but if 99 percent of fight fans saw this fight at around a 2 or 3 round decision/draw how can BOXING let this bullshat judging keep happening. They can't just turn a cold shoulder at 3 people doing the opposite of what their job is meant to be.

Also.......this is why many people will not watch/buy in to boxing. I have tried turning many people on to my favorite sport but they see fights like this one and decide that it is either rigged or just bs. For a first time PPV watcher seeing the scorecards like that I'm sure it would be their last PPV or even boxing fight at that. Something needs to be done, or I may even start to look away insert a tear right HERE.
if the knocdown had been scored corectly i would have had the fight to barrera by 4 rounds going into the 8th round. with nady taking away the point and rulling no knockdown i gave the 7th to marquez 10-8 so obviously i had it level. i had barrera at the end of the fight by 2 points 115-113 but im with you guys here you could argue some of the rounds were a bit close.

the judging in the fight was terrible again and its all to frequint now in LV.

We scored this one the same. I had it the exact way you said on this one.

From all the treads that I read, most had Marquez winning also. And some of them were there for the fight. I personally would not have disagreed if they had MAB winning. If the knockdown was counted them it would have been a little closer. (big mistake on the ref) The only problem I had was 118-110. To me it was closer but I believe the right man won.
