Cintron targets Margarito!
Cotto also on Cintron's hit list
IBF welterweight champion Kermit Cintron announced today his desire to avenge his only professional loss by calling out Antonio Margarito. Cintron, who lost to Margarito in April of 2005, is ready to fight Margarito now! "Right now, I'm a world champion and he's not. If he thinks he's the best, come and get my belt. I have it and he's saying he wants it so let's get it on....I was coming off a 9 month layoff, hand surgery, and had only 4 weeks to prepare. I'm not going to make any more excuses, but I know that fight was a fluke. When I fight Margarito again, the fight will once again end in a knockout. Only this time, it will be Margarito lying on the canvas." Kermit's manager Emanuel Steward told Fightnews that "The Margarito fight is something that Kermit wants to avenge very badly. He wants to get it out of the way as soon as possible. He wants to prove he's better than Margarito and that the first fight was lost for reasons that aren't apparent today. We're willing to give Margarito a shot the title just to clear things up once and for all."

Cintron also said he plans to unify the welterweight division, starting with WBA champion Miguel Cotto. "He's another champion from Puerto Rico," said Cintron, "but I know that I'm the top Puerto Rican fighter. While I respect him as a champion, I know what the result will be. Like the others, he'll be wondering what hit him."
