I'm just starting the left right thing. I will start off with 2 feet, then after maybe 5 jumps, I will go left, left, left, left, left, right, right, right, right, left, left, SCREW UP. And start all over again, and do that until I do less in a row with left and right. It seems to be working.

Definitely a good idea to get the better cushioned shoes fot the jump rope Grace. I was doing it for some time in my ring shoes, and my feet ended up getting sore after a few weeks. After switching back the the running shoes, I was good to go.

Shoes

I went shopping for shoes today. I need shoes that I can workout in with plenty of cushioning. I tried on some Reebocks, then a pair of Vanns. The other shoes were New Balance. The most comfortable of all were the Vanns. I had them in an 8.5 size. That's a half a size too big for me. So I have room for plenty of extra socks. Do you guys have a favorite brand in shoes?

I always where boxing shoes when I workout. I beleive mine are everlast mid tops. They go about 3-4 inches above my ankle. I need a pair of 9's now though. I have a pair of 8.5's and they are too small now.

Skipping rope is great for legs and cardio, but for leg speed i suggest some basketball defencive drills. Will not be in the same stance as your boxing, but you will gain explosive pace. Defencive slides with sprints in between are great, foot fire (you can do this one in boxing stance and if your really game hold a medicine ball above your head). But i found these really strengthened your calf, you'll especially notice the difference in the height of your jump as well as your acceleration.
