BF cruiserweight champion Steve Cunningham (21-1, 11 KOs) stopped previously unbeaten mandatory challenger Marco Huck (19-1, 14 KOs) in round twelve on Saturday night at the Seidensticker Halle in Bielefeld, Germany. Huck was very aggressive and effective in rounds one and two. The quick-handed Cunningham started boxing better in round three but as the fight went on he was often driven into the ropes where Huck teed off while the champ could only hold. Cunningham landed a good right hand that may have won him round five, but Huck was back on the attack with big shots in the sixth. Huck was bleeding from the left ear in round seven, and both fighters landed heavy shots. Round eight was a good round for Cunningham and the champ appeared to have more in the gas tank over rounds nine and ten. Sensing he may need a knockout, Huck went all out in the eleventh and outworked the champion. Cunninghan, however, staggered Huck in the twelfth and Huck's corner threw in the towel durring Cunningham's follow-up attack. Credit fightnews.com

I need to see this fight.

In terms of odds Huck was massively favourite, which confused me because he just seemed like another german built up prospect with no real tests on his resume. Best thing now for cunningham would be if Maccarinelli won against Haye. That would mean there's a super-bout in the division to be made, because if Haye wins, then leaves for HW, the divisions gonna look in pretty poor shape for at least a couple of months if not longer as people scramble for belts then maybe unify them.

I was gonna place a bet that Cunningham won on points but was put off that it was in Germany as judging can be erratic there.

Seems I saved myself money as it was a stoppage win.

Credit to Steve for not leaving it upto the judges and beating a live opponent. Though it seems they had him ahead anyway.
