In his first bout since being stopped by Kelly Pavlik back in May, Edison "El Pantera" Miranda (29-2, 25KOs) made his super middleweight debut with a crushing fifth round stoppage of Henry Porras (33-7-1, 25KOs) at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida.

If Miranda loses this fight he'll be a ESPN fight for now on.

As reported last week, Goossen Tutor was talking with Warriors Boxing about possibly matching super middleweight prospect Andre Ward (13-0, 8KOs) against Miranda in 2008. Promoter Dan Goossen feels that Miranda is the type of opponent who could provide a defining fight for Ward, a 2004 Olympic gold medal winner. HBO is said to have interest in picking up the fight. Ward returns to action on November 16 on ShoBox.

On the Miranda-Porras undercard;

Undefeated super middleweight prospect James "Buddy" McGirt Jr. (17-0, 9KOs) won an eight round decision over Jason Naugler (17-7-1, 11KOs). Scores of 79-73 across the boards.
