What Steward says about Taylor

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is copied and pasted off of the ESPN boxing page.

"What you just heard is the real Jermain Taylor," said Emanuel Steward, his trainer. "He's the meanest man I've ever trained in my life. I'm having to hold him back to keep him from going over there and beating up Miranda right now."

The meanest man he has ever trained in his life? Steward has trained a lot of fighters, this is saying a lot. There might be a bit more to Jermain Taylor than people think. I personally would pick him to beat Miranda.

From all the beef he is getting from all of us, i can see how the blood in his veins could be pumping very fast. If i was miranda, i would hush just a little bit because i think taylor is young enough to let him actually let his anger get the best of miranda.

Lance, I have always remained consistent in saying that Taylor would straight up whip Miranda. The only "beef" I have ever had with Taylor are the two handouts he recieved. Other than that I like the guy and think he is great.

I am one of the few who are not sold on this Edison Miranda guy quite yet. I think he is talented and solid, but not technically ready for A level guys. It seems that everyone is already on the Miranda bandwagon, and he hasn't even done anything yet.

Another thing. I think HBO made a GREAT move by featuring the Miranda/Pavlik fight before the Taylor fight for free on HBO. Because of this I believe that whoever fights Taylor will be made into a PPV after many people had seen what's going down tomorrow.

I'm still picking Pavlik. Everyone is looking past him so I'm going with him.

lol yeah that is saying a lot. I could see how JT is mad. He did get the win (twice) over B-HOP and everyone thinks including me was BS. But hey that’s my only beef too. I like the guy, he’s young has a lot of potential and I hope Calzaghe wont B*TCH out LIKE ALWAYS and fights him. If he's as mean as they say he is.... it’s because he's HUNGRY and wants to make up for his B-HOP fights. Well I say GO ON MAN... get mad.... get dirty and beat some ass... we want to see a mean JT... Or at least I do.... I want to see his real talent come out and eat Calzaghe like some Welsh Cakes for breakfast LIVE ON HBO PPV in front of the world…

Dude, you and I always seem to be on the same page. I completely agree with all that you just said.
well the only thing i disagree wiht you guys about is that i thought taylor won those fights against bhop and winky, i thought they were close on the scorecards but i thought overall taylor won the fight and i scored him ahead in all the fights as well. I like this miranda guy to, but like you sahne,i think all he has shown is power and a lack of defenese basically. I think he has alot of heart and tons of potential, he can only get better in my mind. He has that killer instinct i like as well.
the only thing i have against JT is he's taking floyd type fights.

why dont he fight5 calzaghe, 2 top 10 p4p guys would be a lot bigger than joe v kessler or taylor v miranda/pavlik

1.HOpkins
2.Hopkins
3.Winky

That's three very respectable names in a row. He can take a few "chill" fights after that streak even though I had him losing Hopkins 1 and Winky by a point.
althought once again i had him winning all three of them fights, he beat the p4p kings so far, as far as im concerned, kessler and calzage hardly touch the 10th spo on the p4p list. Although i do agree that he should fight calzaghe and kessler or whoever is out there but i hardly doubt taylor is ducking anyone, I dont think he is afraid of anyone out there. I think its calzaghe who is ducking taylor, obviously kessler according to the way he talked about him tonight. Kessler i dont think wants cares about a fight with taylor, he wants calzaghe and only calzaghe.

lol Floyd type fights? The man got a decision over B-HOP twice and a single decision over Winky. That is not Floyd type fights. Thats a I will fight anyone type fight. You don't just walk into the ring with B-HOP (TWICE), he did that and a follow up with WINKY and well he won all 3 fights. NOW CALZAGHE is a B*tch ass. But he does have belts and is undefeated. SO JT WILL eventually fight this fake mumbling joker from across the way...
I can see if you meant by "THE FLOYD TYPE FIGHTS" you meant as him doing enough or barley enough to win the fights and not actually taking anything from anyone (which is probably what you meant)... if so I'm all with ya.

no i ment the ouma and stinxs fights.
yeah, if anything, taylor is opposite of floyd, taylro is all offense with little defense. His offense is his defense in a sort. That jab is lethal. Im guessing you have only see the hop/taylor fights, and even though it was taylors most tactical battles so far, hopkins didnt do enough to win. And i know what you guys think already so you dont have to tell me.
See I didn't think Taylor did NEAR enough in the first Hopkins fight to TAKE the belt from Bernard. The second fight I thought Taylor clearly won. I had the Winky fight either way.

Within the next 2 years Jermain Taylor will be #1 P4P, and I guarantee it.
i agree shane and i like this you starting to accept taylor a little more. Hope i get to meet the guy, but i wont blame you if you cant get through. Im pleased enough just watching him on tv and he not even noing i exist.
I guess Taylor showed is dark side last night. Steward must have been in the ring holding him back from fighting last night also!
i woudl like to defend mine and shanes comments above, but im sorry, we really cant based on that performance last night. His dark side disappointed us last night, it better not happen again.
taylor to me has a good defence but a bad offence lance.
Talk about feeling like an idiot. I really do think that Taylor fights down to the level of his competition. Boxrec moved Winky Wright to their number one over Taylor.
i dont like what boxrec did. winky shouldnt be moved there until he beats bhop. winky's last fight was against an old and tired quartey, he was a shadow of himself and although taylor's last fight was against a jr middleweight champion, he was still in his prime and faught well. I would understand if they moved winky to 1 after the bhop fight but just because taylor looked bad. nah.
