You wouldnt be able to use them in an amatuer or professional fight. They have to be approved by the ordained boxing commision of the event your fighting at. Also, differences in gloves are numerous. Padding and the placement of the padding in the gloves is very important. Some gloves will weigh the same oz's but one will have more padding over the knuckle area than the other. Thats why some gloves are referred to as "punchers gloves".
All sanctioned boxing events (to my knowledge) require lace up gloves. Velcro is just produced for quickly getting them on the hand, and when a trainer is not available to lace you up.
Most sparring gloves are 14-16oz to protect the hands and the oppponent from excessive damage. Professional fight gloves are usually 8-10oz.
Hope this helps.

When I train I don't use weighted gloves, I use bag gloves. But when I spar I use 16oz Everlast lase gloves. They have a lot of padding at the knuckles.

Thats as accurate as an answer as you will find. To my knowledge laced up gloves are that only ones that are sanctioned as well.
