Fighter and Fight of the year (2006)

I've been wondering about that myself. I'm trying to come up with a list of at least 5 potential contenders. So far all I can think of is 2. Obviously this is just my opinion but there's:

Manny Pacquiao vs. Erik Morales II

John Duddy vs. Yori Boy Campas

I haven't any idea about round or fighter of the year.

Howabout Pacman as fighter of the year?

Morales twice
Larios

There was not any boxer that stood out this year & just had a huge year.

Baldomir was on a good roll & woulda won hands down if he beat Mayweather. Mayweather only fought twice but I would probably vote for him or maybe Pacquiao.

Pac man did have a good year. :thumbsup:

There where some good fights

Counting only fights I have seen this year. In no certain order.

Brewster vs Liakhovich
Bell vs Mormeck
Diaz vs Golden Johnson
Barios vs Guzman

I heard Duddy vs Campas was really good, have not watched it yet but have the DVD sittin here.

KO'ed Chris Byrd ---the Champ

Samuel Peter -- Top Contender

KO'ed Calvin Brock -- Top contender

You know I cant really argue any reasonable choice just because nobody really stood out & had a huge year.

So Wladimir is a canidate.

After talkin about this I watched Campas vs Duddy & it was awesome.

I am not sure who would get my vote between Camaps/Duddy or Brwester /Liakhovich.

I have not see the fight from japan this year that everyone was talking about.

Why do you pick Mayweather vs Baldomir as fight of the year?

Did you see it? It was kinda one sided, average fight. People dont boo & leave the FOY :dunno:

No one really stood out but Pac Man had a good year. Floyd had a good year. Baldomir had a ok year. Even with a draw to Write Taylor had a good year but nobody really stands out they could give it to any of those fighters and I'll be ok with it.

I think Pacman gets it this year. He not only won some big fights, but he seems to have evolved in to a more complete boxer as well. You dont just get the 1-2 anymore with Manny. Hes really added to his repitoire by developing his uppercut and right hook, and has really improved his combinations.
He's the standout for 2006 in my opinion, plus he's exciting as hell to watch to boot!

if winky wasn't robbed against taylor i wouldf have said yes with his wins over quartey and mosely but with larios and morales on pac's record id just give him the nod.
