During a recent interview with the Newark Star-Ledger, WBC junior middleweight champ Floyd Mayweather, Jr. touched on the subject of a bout with unbeaten WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto. Mayweather told the paper that it's premature to talk about a fight with Cotto. He views Cotto as a good fighter, but also says Cotto makes way too many mistakes to ever beat him.

"Cotto is a good fighter, but he's too flat-footed," Mayweather said. "His punches are too wide. He'd never hit me. I'd see them coming all day. His good hand is his left; he's a converted southpaw like Oscar De La Hoya. The left hook I'll see it coming all day. His jab's too slow. And he makes a lot of mistakes."

Cotto meets former welterweight champion Zab Judah on June 9 at New York's Madison Square Garden. The bout will be the feature attraction of an HBO pay-per-view.

I agree 100 percent. This is why Cotto is by far the most overrated guy in the sport right now. He will be exposed to everyone on June 9th.

For once i actually agree with Floyd. If a focused, fit Judah turns up i think he takes Cotto out. Judah is too fast for Cotto IMO. However, i fear a subpar Zab will turn up and Cotto will win.

If Floyd wants the recognition as the true P4P best of his generation he has to take Marg/Williams, Cotto, SSM and possibly DLH again, to silence the doubters. For me, Pac still is #1 P4P because Floyd cant match his resume.

Ok, as far as the Pacquiao thing goes there is no way he is #1. He isn't in my top 5. A guy with no defense can not be the number one pound for pound BOXER.

Now, why would Zab not come into this fight more prepared than ever? Think about it guys. As goofy as Zab may be this is a statement fight for him; as well as a career-defining/making fight. If he comes out lame and gets dominated he wont get another big money shot. But, if he comes out and puts a "1" in Miguel Cottos loss column watch out.

Personally, as all of you know I see Zab knocking Cotto out by the 8th round.

Haha, i have cotto by early round knockout. The zab everyone think will show up, wont. He came in the best he has ever been against floyd. And even if he comes in that good against cotto, he'll still get beat, cotto is to strong mentally. I dont see anyone keeping this man on the canvas if they can knock him down. Especially with the puerto rican day parade, the next day.

come on shane, your talking to me, you dont think i know cotto hasnt been down? i know man, but its how long it takes for him to finally go down and how quickly he responds from it when he gets up. The man has alot of fortitude and i think he will show alot against zab. I think zab is the 2nd or 3rd most talented welterweight at there adn one of the most talented gusy ive ever seen in the ring, its just, he has a hard time putting it on display. I know you have very good reasonign for going with zab, but i have good reasoning for going with cotto, we'll find out who wins on the 9th.
