My question is How do i start an Amatuer career? I'm young still in school spending all my time trying to get better at boxing. Boxing has basically taken over my life and i want to really test my skills and become better. The thing is i live in Southold a piece of **** town that has nothing to do in it. I joind a jujitsu place and they let me box there with a friend but he sucks. And what i have are a heavy bag, gloves, speed bag, jump rope & a horrible sparring partner. There is a place 45 minutes away called Atlantic Boxing and one of there students is leon green who's i think a golden glove champ but 45minutes each way is a alot considering gas prices too. So this is my delema, wtf should i do?
Oh and if you guys know of any competitions for amatuers in New York or Long Island fill me in please i just want to box.

If your serious about boxing, driving 45 minutes away shouldn't be a problem. When you join a gym and start boxing there or taking lesson from the gym, they give out information on amature boxing events for their members. That should be an easy way to get some experience within the ring on a competitive level. I say give it a try with some time and things should fit together.

Kameleon is right. 45 mins drive is really not all that bad, especially if your training in a gym where a golden gloves champ trains. That should at least make you feel comfortable that they have a good trainer, and good boxers to spar with. You will reap FAR better results in a quality boxing gym, than the Jujitsu place your going to. Do it.
