Granite Chin....

Which modern day Boxers would people say are contenders for the best chin in boxing?

1 Kelly Pavlik

I think Kelly Pavlik has shown that he can
take some huge shots, survive and prosper like he did in the Taylor fights.

2 Juan Diaz

Even though he lost to Nate Campbell, he displayed great heart and courage, when putting up with the heavy punishment Campbell was dishing out.

3 Evander Holyfield

The "little guy", who moved up to mix it with the big boys. Holyfield reigned for so long as a champion, with one of the factors being his amazing ability to take huge shots and stay on his feet.

I disagree with your entire post. They all have good chins and great chins but not granite. I would describe granite as

James Toney
Calzaghes chin > Pavliks chin
Nates Chin > Juans chin
McCalls chin > Vanders chin.

I agree, along with Oliver McCall.
I'd say a warmed up andrade has one of the best chins in boxing today.

I was going to add James Toney, but i'm still upset that he let Samuel Peter "handle him like a boy" .

Also Mosley can take a good shot.
well seeing how toney is an nautral 160 pound guy, and he's been taking shots from the hardest heavyweights, and only been down once and got right back up proves he has a granite chin, plus he's way past his prime, Once he left 168, he was basically done. Although he had a great performance against jirov at cruiserweight. He beat peter the first time on almost everyones card in the world. That says enough right there.
Just for you TYSONJONES

Granite Chin= IMO a boxer who has shown that he can consistantly take a good shot and survive.

I could have titled this thread GREAT CHINS,GOOD CHINS,DECENT CHINS, but I just chose GRANITE CHINS..... I did'nt relize there was a differance, when describing a boxer who takes a good shot.
well pavlik was just about koed 2 fights ago in the 2nd round, juan diaz just about got ko'ed by campbell a few weeks ago and holyfield has been knocked out a few times.
In today's boxing I'd say Kessler.
Floyd Mayweather has a granite chin, never been officially down from a punch.

Pavlik ate a number of huge shots from Taylor, which would have ended many a boxers night..... BUT HE WEATHERED THE SHOTS AND WON.

Juan Diaz was on the end of a sustained beating from Campbell, who packs a big shot, but survived and stayed on his feet for the twelve rounds .

To dismiss Evander Holyfield as someone not highly regarded for having a good chin means you're either being ignorant or you're not up on boxing history ......Jesus brushing Holyfield aside as...... "Oh that guy has been knocked out a few times",.... have a memory longer than FIVE YEARS

Sorry to break it to you. But Pavlik chin is nowhere near granite. He\'s been down a number of times in his career.

He was down against Taylor(who packs a punch)......Outcome of the Taylor-Pavlik fight please???

Neither of these guys has an iron chin but they have an iron will. It's more valuable IMO.

Pavlik has been down 4 times in his career. That\'s not a sign of a granite chin. He gets up and wins. Because he has heart and balls. But his chin is not granite. It\'s really not that hard to understand.
No, Pavlik can't be on that list, Mayweather's never been NAILED...To his credit, so don't really know. Mosley, yes, Andrade, yes, Holyfield yes, but the fact is there aren't really any today with "granite chins"
Baldomir's was pretty solid. Got Ko'd early in his career but from then on you could hit him a million times and he wouldn't go down.
