Hopefully someone can make a recommendation about glove-style hand wraps (to be worn under heavy bag gloves).

As a new dad, I sometimes have maybe 15 minutes tops for my workouts (including lacing-up and stretching). Rather than spending 5-15 minutes with standard hand wraps, I see that some mfgs sell "glove style" wraps, often with gel.

For example, Everlast EverGel Glove Wraps.

Anybody have any experience with these? Should I run away from them? If they are decent enough, anyone able to recommend a brand?

They are "ok" at best. In general, they offer good knuckle protection but poor wrist and hand (bone) protection. If you are doing aerobic training, ie- not hitting the bag at full force and focusing on work rate, than they could be an option for you. I will stress this to you though- if you like to work hard and really dig into the bag, learn to wrap your hands with real handwraps. Once you get it down, it takes MAYBE 3 minutes to wrap both hands. The protection offered for the wrist and the small bones in the top of the hand is vastly superior, and is the main reason why handwraps were developed.

I'll probably be doing aerobic stuff at first until I get into somewhat better shape.

Then I'll want to start digging into the bag (I used to go pretty hard at my old bag a few years ago with two layers of sweat socks under my gloves instead of wraps!!), and hopefully I can tenderize the bag relatively quickly so it doesn't feel like hitting a tree trunk.

About wraps, I hear that some like 'Mexican' wraps. What's the difference? Do you have a preference?

Mexican style handwraps are much longer and provide much more protection in the long run, imo everyone should wear them instead of regular's.
