The next fight for Ricky Hatton (43-1, 31KOs) has been officially announced by his camp. Hatton steps back in the ring against Juan Lazcano (37-4, 27KOs) at the City of Manchester Stadium on May 24. He returns for the first time since suffering the only loss of his career, a knockout at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr. last December.

"It is a homecoming fight and it's an absolute dream come true to be fighting back in Manchester," said Hatton told the BBC. "I'm down the home straight of my career with everything I have done so far. But I'm back down to my normal weight and it's my aim to come back and slam the door on everyone who thinks I'm finished. You prove yourself to be great by coming back from obstacles which are put in front of you."

Hatton's father/manager Ray told the Manchester Evening News that he expects a record crowd of 55K fans, breaking the the British attendance record of 42K for Benn/Eubank in 1993.

"Ricky is absolutely delighted. He's probably lost over £1m by having the fight here in Britain as a reward for his fans rather than going back to America which the satellite TV channels over there wanted him to do," Ray Hatton said.

"This is a Brit-friendly night. We're going for the record and hope to get up to 55,000 in the City of Manchester Stadium. It's Brit-friendly in terms of TV timings and the fans. Special planes are being laid on to bring in supporters from Ireland and throughout the UK."

I'm stoked to see Ricky back in action. Time to get back to the top of his division and hopeully a blockbuster fight to cap off his career.

Give the guy a break. He just got done with a very difficult fight and training camp. Add in the press tour and the mental recovery and Ricky deserves an easier fight. He'll be back to fighting champs by September or October.

He wont do that because he wont fight Witter , i dont if hes scared of him or what it is , but the i dont like him so i wont fight him dont work for me anymore.
I think you were missing some words there but I grasped the concept. I do beleive Witter will end up being the next fight or the fight after this one. I expect it no later than February of next year.

of course, i'd like to see hatton take on a better fighter, but i can understand the reasoning for fighting lazcano. as long as hatton doesn't follow lazcano with another "tomato can" then i can deal with it.

i doubt ricky's going to fight witter after lazcano, so i'd hope his next opponent will be torres. witter looks like he maybe giving holt a title shot, so that frees torres up being holt is currently his mandatory.

Laczano was a decent opponent when Hatton was originally supposed to fight him, but not anymore. I don't blame him for taking a lesser fight but i think he should have chosen a better opponent.

I won't be buying this anyways, unless all my Hatton nuthugging mates decide too...

I absolutely can't wait to hear the TRUE numbers for what this fight sells in the UK alone. I predict 100,000 buys if it is set up the same as PPV's over here. They'll all get together and burn American flags and sing those retarded ass songs, beating drums like morons. God, they ruined Vegas that weekend.

They are dedicated fans Lance You can bet that Mayweather wishes he had a fan base like that. Ok so some of them booed the US national anthem Ive heard God save the Queen booed by so called US fans The "burning flags" talk is ridiculous it never happened

If you get in a fight in Vegas you're fukked. They will straight up put you out with no refund. If it were in Dallas I would have definitely tried to literally kill some of those bastards with my hands. You just don't understand. I would wake up and come down to the casino floor for some breakfast and as soon as the elevator would open it was, "walkin in a hatton wonderland." I'm sitting here half hungover debating on whether or not to say fukk it and go ape shiit on them. It was non stop. They wake up and have beer for breakfast. WOrthless pieces of shiit if you ask me. On the other hand, there were some of them who were the nicest people in the world. The kind of people that I love to be around. I met like 4 dudes from Skipton??? I think, that were huge boxing fans and were there to see Hatton, but had all made bets on Floyd. We talked for about an hour over breakfast. Great people.

and pavlik' fan base isn't that great if you ask me. it's steadily getting bigger though. i'd say mayweather has the biggest fanbase, but i consider alot of may-haters "fans" being they'll tune in to his fights to see him lose;)

know this mhn! you are subliminally fans of mayweather!!!!!

it is ignorant to boo the anthem. I won't argue that. We must all udnerstand, though, that there are idiots everywhere! In every country, every state and every city. I bet you %95 of the Brits that came here were all great folk who were disgusted by the booing of the anthem.

Also. Shane, you shouldn't be pissed that they were singing the Hatton song. You should have felt a sense of pride that these guys were dedicated to a fighter to that degree. Should have felt a sense of pride they were here, stateside, to enjoy a sport that you hold sacred.

It isn't that simple.
Point is.

Our anthem has been boo'ed by American fans too, its just we dont bitch about it like giggly chicks.
Giggly chicks? Lame.
:laugh::laugh::laugh:

People boo anthems all the time. A sense of national pride will always superceed common courtesy. Who cares. We are there to watch the boxers; not the audience. I didn't get offended when they booed. It's a song! They didn't piss on the Washington Monument or anything.
And the Monument is a statue.

I watched that fight in the Dominican Republic at an outdoor sports bar with a bunch of English Hatton fans there as tourists. I was sitting next to this one ol' man that had like 4 body gaurds with him. I don't usually speak to people I don't know but he asked me a question about boxing because from the way I was talking to my friends I guess he could tell I was a big fan. He asked me who was going to win and I told him Mayweather was going to TKO hatton by round 8. He's like "That's rubbish mate" or something like that... So we kept talking and stuff, and then...

Ah I don't know, I was High as hell. What I do remember is that the English tourists there were very cool people. They were really depressed after the fight though. And us jumping up and down screaming in joy as Mayweather stood on the ropes and reached out to God with his hand over his heart after the stoppage was classic and made up for those morons in Vegas booing our anthem.

Ringdoctor im glad u seemed to enjoy company of British people, we are not all anthem booing, flag burning morons. Im Welsh and drunken Welsh people can def be worse than most. Alot of Welsh including myself will be in Vegas 4 the Calzaghe fight next month and i wudn be suprised if a small majority disrespected the anthem again.

Ive WON this debte a few times so i dont mind if you miss this post out.

American fans have gave us hell during ours, not as bad, no, but it all still the same.

"What, i say is fukk them"... why let them cloud us or in this case you !"And be bias?
Ring Doctor jus read my post and seen my mis-use of English, where u might of mistaken what i wrote. Ive edited, read again and see if it makes more sense.
Wow! I'm confused!

I don't know what you two are writing about.

"id be suprised if a small majority didnt disrespect the anthem again"

^ This means that you are going to Be s-u-p-r-i-s-e-d if a s-m-a-l-l group of Welsh(?) (Calzaghe, whatever) fans Do - Not - Disrespect our flag.

I don't know man. I can't get any clearer. I also expect them to BOO the flag. It's what drunk people do. Drink then show their true colors and regret it the next day!

TommyGun, I don't know what you are talking about...
