Floyd would win. Hatton is a better version of Carlos Baldomir, but would yield close to the same result in a fight against floyd.
I agree!Captainobvious99 said:Floyd would win. Hatton is a better version of Carlos Baldomir, but would yield close to the same result in a fight against floyd.
Hatton IS like Baldomir in the fact that they are BOTH pressure fighters who try to push the action, and always come forward. They both have great chins, average speed and movement and good power. Hatton, however, is more of a rough house fighter. He'd never give Floyd "fits" because he'd have the same trouble Baldomir had- Getting inside to land any type of punch on floyd. I like Hatton, but he's clearly not a good matchup for Floyd. Mayweather would win, again, on a unanimous decision by sticking him with single punches, counterpunching, and moving before Hatton can get in close enough to bully him.tommygunn said:man this is boring but i will say again, hatton isnt like baldomir at all no comparison, hatton is a pressure fighter much like castillo and margarito but only better, we all know what happened to floyd in his first fight with castillo he got bullyed and was gifted a fight he clearly lost. now hatton can box better than castillo he's faster than castillo, he has more pop than castillo and has abetter chin than castillo. i think he'd give floyd fit's and pickup the stoppage win, he's only challenged him about 6 times in the last 6 months.![]()
Maybe I was watching a different fight than you. Scratch that I wasn't watching a fight I was watching a wrestling match. Why do you think he always wants to fight on his home turf? I would love nothing more than to have Ricky Hatton get pummeled by Prett Boy Floyd. The fight between him and Hatton was really good... and fair... straight down the line
I had to read that line 5 times before i got it..daveDaboxingfan said:Remember Collazo and now compare
i think a fighter like hatton will beat floyd but not hatton.
nothing alike, baldomir only has 9 ko's and grinds out point wins using his strengh to wear down his opponents.Captainobvious99 said:Hatton IS like Baldomir in the fact that they are BOTH pressure fighters who try to push the action, and always come forward. hatton would walk through anything pbf through at him, hatton cuts off the ring better than prob any fighter alive today and would have floyd who averages about 40 punches a round thinking he was surounded as the hitman can throw 100 punches a round for 12 rounds.Jetcar said:*sigh*
here we go again....
Tommy, not in a million years would Hatton beat PBF. He doesn't have the speed or the defense to do it.
While he possesses the attributes required to beat Floyd, he doesn't have enough of each of them to get the job done.
Against Collazo, as someone above me mentioned, he was stymied by an opponent that side-stepped his straight-forward rushing and counter-punched him. Hatton was soundly criticized by MANY people after the Collazo fight, for all his clutching/grabbing, even bestowing him with the nickname of "John Ruiz JR".
Since the Castillo fight, Floyd has figured out how to deal with bullies/big guys, ...he learned what to do about it, and put it into practice, and no one has bullied him since. Gatti was supposed to do it, Baldomir was supposed to do it, but to no avail.
I'd love to see this fight made. (PBF-Hatton)
I'm also a fan of Hatton's "in your face style". Do I think he's a fighter who could defeat Floyd? NO.
Throwing does not equal "landing".tommygunn said:hatton would walk through anything pbf through at him, hatton cuts off the ring better than prob any fighter alive today and would have floyd who averages about 40 punches a round thinking he was surounded as the hitman can throw 100 punches a round for 12 rounds.
I agree. High volume punching doesnt mean squat if there isnt a "statue" standing in front of you to absorb them. Floyd gets hit less than most boxers in the sport, and its because his defense and movement are so good. If you think he'd land anywhere CLOSE to that number per round against Floyd, your dreaming, so his punch volume is virtually irrelevant...I mean, Unless they fight in a 12' X 12' ring...and even then i dont know.Jetcar said:Throwing does not equal "landing".
Cutting off the ring...? We also discussed this. With PBF's speed, Hatton would get numerous warnings for holding and clinching, trust me. When he sets to throw, and then throws, PBF will not be there to get hit.
