is ricky hattons future as bright as it should be or once was?
I say no. He is getting a lot of flack from both sides of the pond in the media right now regarding his sub-par performance. They are also discussing a pattern of holding and clinching that seems to be developing that they don't like the looks of either.

Everyone is quick to defend this by saying Hatton is putting on too much weight between fights, and they better hope that is the case, otherwise, ....

Anyhow, it won't matter...JLC looks like he is not getting any younger, after seeing his fight with Herman Ngoudju on Saturday, Hatton must be licking his chops.

After that, I don't know what Hatton will strive for, realistically. He's said he doesn't want to go back to 147, so....

kostya tzsyu had great credability and is a legend and future HOFer, hatton destroyed him.
Tzsyu was done when Hatton fought him. Tzsyu in his prime would not have lost to Hatton. Proof being that Tzsyu has done nothing since the loss.

Hatton is very one-dimensional, albeit a firecracker in the ring with a crowd pleasing style as a brawler who is always moving forward.

As I mentioned in my post above, he's developing a frightening pattern of holding and clinching that won't win him any fans, or further attract any big time contracts when his next fight is up with HBO.

Tommy, you're doing a good job of ignoring everyone's comments regarding Hatton's clinching style, and the fact that it's not just the members here saying, but also the media and the HBO commentators.

just becasue urango got a few good body shots in that doesnt mean anyone with a good body dhot on them caould beat him. That can happen in anyfight at anyweight. Cottos running scared from ricky. Hatton is the best body puncher in the sport and desserevs more credit than hes geting at the moment. look at the record. 42.0.0. Thats impressive
Not AS impressive when you look at it more closely. Warren was seen scouting the local morgues to find opponents for Ricky during the first 16 fights, he only fought one person with a winning record. Apart from the hardcore fan, the only recognizable name on his record is Tony Pep, (to some degree) and then Vince Phillips. 23rd and 32 fights respectively. Tackie and Tszyu are the other noteable names, but, meh, not exactly a world-beater, yet.

On the other hand, on the undercard, Ngoudju gave Castillo all he could handle, in his 16th pro fight. Herman will be making a call to Hatton in another 26 fights to compare records.

**Queue up Tommygunn to tell me that it's all Warrens' fault that Hatton fought so many stiffs.

jey you've been hating on hatton since i knew you, infact ive never heard you say a good thing about him.

by the way jet you said hatton got slaughtered in the press stateside but i seen an interview with hatton on friday fight night and he said he loved it in the u.s and the press were great with him.
I've said lots of positive things about him, I just don't think he's "legend"...

You can't defend his last performance though, he looked like crap, compared to other fights he's had, and this is supposed to "be his time" right now, when he's peaking, right?

I've never seen so many clinches, so many one-sided clinches in a long time, coming from someone who was supposed to be so quick, and such a pressure fighter with a great body attack.

I'm not a fan-boy, so I don't hate on anyone. I've said lots of negative things about PBF, too, just for the record.

Hatton is pretty one-dimensional, and when faced with a southpaw, who had decent footwork and defense, it was almost the end of him. Blah blah 147, I know I know.

There wasn't anything that impressive about his win against Urango, that's for sure. (for the record, I watched the fight again, last night...)

but this is boxing, so a moderate looking Hatton and a crappy looking JLC will meet in a few months time...boxing will make everyone forget about their last performances and market the fight as a barn-burner and everyone will be happy, since these guys are evenly matched, and will stand toe-to-toe and knock each other silly.
