Over the 20th century many heavyweights had great stamina, and others well didn't. Some of the people that did were Marciano, Ali, Holmes, Charles, Frazier, and Patterson to name a few. Why other than training were they able to last that long?

Stamina

For super stamina matches you would have to go back to the 1800s.
Longest recorded with gloves 7hrs 19mins 110 rds.(1893)
Longest world title under Queensberry rules 1906 42 rounds, lightweights. There are probably others in these times that are close to these numbers.Modern boxing has many advantages over the older times, but stamina isn't one of them.;)

It was stated:

20th century heavyweights, so I left out the ones before 1900.
