Where do you rate Floyd Mayweather, as an all time judgement?

couldn't tell you on a all-time table...thats impossible. Floyd isn't fighting the competition the guys of the past where fighting. I mean I couldn't compare Tyson to the age of Ali or Louis...I can't do the same for Mayweather. Mayweather is with beyond a shadow of a doubt the best around...best of this millennium so far but I can't compare him to the Welterweights of past.
Yeh, i hate comparing fighters of today to fighter's of the past. Il go with Chris and just leave it as hes the best of his generation.
that's all we can do. once mayweather's done with the fight game we can debate. we should compare full resumes not partial ones.
roy jones was the best fighter of the last generation of fights and floyd is the best fighter of this generation of fighters, if floyd can come back and defeat cotto and retire 40 and 0 however. i would rate him on paper top 10 atg fighters. He's damn good.
I think Floyd is awesome, But! i hate his defensive tactics, does he ever go forward? got to admire his patience, it annoys me that hatton got k.o'd when you look at the fighters that have took mayweather 12 rounds, but then again hatton did not stick to his gameplan and got picked off, he was also boxing above his weight... he should go back to light welterweight. i would love to see cotto v mayweather but i do think floyd would beat him. as for rating him against boxers from the past, i would have to agree with the above... RJ jr was the best p4p now floyd is.
Floyd is too good :p

I don't like him much as a person, but fair play to him - he has taken on the best he can, and beat them all! Hatton was his strongest challenger, and he clearly showed who was better!

P4P of All Time? I dunno lol - never really thought about a P4P all time list, but he'd be up there anyhow...
Floyd has been an excellent fighter who if he wants to go into the hall of fame allongside Leonard, Hearns, Duran etc needs to unify the division. If he can do that by beating Cotto etc then at that point he will have the right to be named in that class.

As it stands Floyd is an excellent fighter with belts, money and potential to be an all time great.
good assessment but he has much more than just belts, his belts are from 5 different weight classes and he has one the main recognized belt in each division. from 130 pounds to 154. He already an all time great, he now just working his way up that list.
The man is there without a doubt!! I remember a thread a while back asking "Who will be remembered the best - Floyd or Roy Jones" I voted for Floyd and if I remember correctly votes for Jones easily won. How do people feel now?....
floyds the best fighter in my life time.

i started watching the fights around 1989.

although i have all the classic fights on VCR and DVD.
Floyd isn't likable. Kind of in the same respect Bernard Hopkins isn't likable. Although I think B-Hop is way less likable. I'm talking about as a person and fighter combined regardless of accomplishments. Now Roy Jones is a peoples champion!!!
imo roy jones is the most skilled fighter i have ever seen in their prime, who will be remembered as the better fighter. if floyd doesnt ever lose, floyd will , strictly because rj got knoced out twice. they will both be remembered equally though in my opinion of the very best of this generation.

I totally agree with you.

I find it difficult even creating my greatest of all time lists. There is to many variables to take into account. Well atleast thats what i find.

I stopped judging fighters from what they were like outside the ring, because i don't know them as people. How can we say that? Maybe Floyd does charity, hes religious. Its impossible to say hes not a nice guy. Unless you have met him.
Floyd had 100s of kids from deprived neighbourhoods from his hometown at the weigh-in, i think he is very good with giving to charities. Hes a nice guy behind he act, he only does that to hype fights.
Floyd does a lot of charity work. He has this thing going in Grand Rapids trying to get rid of drugs and guns. Which is a big thing for such a big black star to be doing...but he grew up with that **** just as a lot of boxers have. B-Hop also has somthing like it for kids to get boxing lessons to keep them out of trouble down in Philly. I'd say there pretty good guys juding by that...but I don't know either of them on a personal level but I would say don't judge a book by its cover. Both of them are some of the best at selling fights. B-Hop admited to starting the ruckus with Winky Wright for selling purposes.
