Amateur boxing in general is a very safe sport. Boxers are very well protected.

Enjoy the gym and the training. You'll definitely love the training and bag work. Its alot of fun.

Like I said before, you dont spar for some time, because you wont be ready yet. And amateur competition will be long off for a beginner. Go down and train for a while and see if you feel like its for you. Have fun !

Tomorrow, I am going to sign up in a club. My mom and dad say that boxing is very dangerous. Is it very dangerous? Do I have to compete with people if I don't want to?
Don't let these guys scare you, you dont have to compete with anybody until you feel you're ready. Take it easy at first ,learn how to hit the heavy bag and the mitts propherly, watch and learn from the others, then when and if you feel confident enought, spar with some one as close to your level as possible ...then come back and tell us about it ok.....good luck to you

The punches on't sting nearly as much as the anerobic and aerobic burn you'll feel in your legs, arms and lungs when starting out. I started trainig when I was 11 and I'm 23 now and have never had my nose broken! Getting punched in the face doesn't hurt as long as you see it coming. And when you don't see it coming, alot of the time you won't feel anything!(that is because you'll be sleeping)

Hey BoxingGoI) if you're still reading this check this out. You should go to a local gym and talk to one of the trainers/coaches. Tell them exactly how you feel, and they will know exactly what to do. I can promise you that you aren't going to be thrown in with experienced guys and be forced to exchange punches until you are absolutely sure you're ready. You could learn boxing and never once spar/fight anyone if you want to. Just try it, and see if you like it. If you have any questions or anything at all feel free to send me a personal message by clicking on my name and selecting it from the drop down menu. Good luck.

fugetaboutit man, the damage is done, no amount of rewriting is gonna fix " you can get kill with one punch " if the kid really wanted to learn how to scrap, he would have gone by now without asking anybody for advice, I hope he does'nt make the same mistake again by asking us anything and if he does perhaps we'll think a little before answering no?:)

Man, you can sign up and work out the bags and sparring only, not needing to compete at all...

some Sparring Gloves are way softer than normalgloves so sparring wont be so dangerous if you're fightin a guy at your level and size...
Boxing is great, do it

The only advice, be carefull because it burns alot of energy, I suggest you eat good before going to the gym...
