Just wondering how many of you actually watch any big fights now? I find PPV far to expensive and very rarely watch any fights live because of it. Is this the same for everyone else or is it just me?

i agree that these ppv fights have become very exspensive, any little fight they want too put it on ppv, and these days most of the undercard fights they show, are not even worth it, they just throw them in because of the 49.99 or higher price tag they charge for the ppv events, it's gone out of hand and the quality of fights have also gone down in quality.............

I have to agree and after paying $50.00 to watch Tyson try to bite a Holyfields ear off I said never again. So far I have stuck to it. It pisses me off that a guy can show up so poorly prepared for a 20 mil pay day. Until they can come up with a real commision somewhere that institutes a penalties for that kind of behavior, like a 5 yr suspension or confiscation of the offenders purse I am thru with PPV for good.

Boxing has a loyal following, and i believe they know this so they dont promote nearly as much as our MMA counterparts.
I agree, PPV is getting pricey, there is the bar option or maybe get a few of the guys around and rent it, everyone pitch in!

Yeah it would be nice to not have to pay for big time fights, but you know that its not going to happen. It would be nice if they had some form of refund/credit policy where if something like tyson biting holyfield's ear type of shit happens then the fighter ends up also making it up to the fans by paying out of his pocket for the price of the entertainment. PPV is like gambling and sometimes you lose out, I remember not wanting to get PPV when tyson was knocking guys out in the first few rounds but then again I did want to see how it went down as well because he was so good at the time:dunno: .

I think the decision makers have killed pro boxing. "When I was a kid" there was just ONE world heavyweight Champion, One middleweight etc. The one thing that makes tons of sense is when they created more weight divisions. Kind of cruel for a 180 pounder to have to go against a guy who was 225 just because he couldn't make the 175 for LHWT.

Henry Cooper should have been 2 sizes bigger; he'd have knocked out Ali

MMA is so rough it scares me. Having said that, it is brutally honest, and I appreciate that

I fill the same way, I have paid 2 see a few fights mostly sugar shane mosley. luckly he does'nt fight as much as others but my cable bill after, is huge (not 2 mention gas prices) they need 2 change that cost plus it would expand the audience who whatch boxing.

While I was doing a shoot and story for my site PPV came up. It was about an upcoming PPV and who was going to watch it at whoose house. Golden Johnson made it clear he did not want people other then his own people to watch it.

PPV's are hurting boxing so are the lack of ratings and the big promoters lack of competitive big cards etc. but I will spare a rant.

The down side

PPV is too expensive but look at the pay days they are handing out now. PPV isn't killing boxing on it's own, the regular TV shows fade out or are infrequent. THey don't advertise outside of their own time block and a lot fo the cards are just plain not interesting to people that aren't already die hard fans of the sport. there needs to be better marketing for the sport and not just for a certain few fighters. People should know that boxing isn't all KO's and names.

It doesn't upset me in the least, if I am paying for at least one decent fight. I rent at least 3 PPV fights a year. I usually have a friend come over and we half the price. Paying 20-25 bux for entertainment it nothing. You are gonna drop that on food and drinks in a bar in no time.

I happened upon this tidbit on the net somewhere yesterday, it's the ppv stats for the De La Hoya/Mayorga fight. HBO raked it in on that ppv. They had 875,000 purchases at $49.99, do the math...lol HBO made a whopping $43,741,250.00 just on the pay per view.
