Unbeaten WBA #7/WBC #11 jr middleweight contender James Kirkland (21-0, 18 KOs) scored a spectacular first round KO over Allen Conyers (11-3, 9 KOs) on Friday night at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California. It was Conyers who had the early upper hand, dropping Kirkland moments into the fight, but Kirkland beat the count and then unleashed a brutal barrage to floor Conyers twice before the bout was stopped with four seconds left in the round.
