A great story on Calzaghe.
Joe Calzaghe is boxing's longest reigning current world champion and, with 20 defenses under his belt, ties legends Larry Holmes and Bernard Hopkins as the fighter with the fourth-longest winning streak in title history. In doing so he has established himself as the best super middleweight on the planet, and as a slick and sharp combatant who stands favorable comparison against British boxing's all-time greats.

The two biggest Calzaghe haters jump in first:laugh: Your right to a certain extent jahobe, Holmes and Hop are far above Joe in stature. Your wrong about Kessler, that guy will lose convincingly to Joe.

ok at least agree on that point.

but convincingly, i hope thats not your heart talking. i will put some hard earned australian dollars on it

Im just not really sold on Kessler yet. I dont know, he just does impress me much. I think Joe would win at least 116-112.

fair enough, i think if joe was to win that would be the only way he would win on a points decision.

Kessler has really impressed me i have seen about 10 or so of his fights maybe more and he is a serious threat

its a close enough matchup to barely be able to predict a winner, nwo you guys are predictign who will and what the score will be lol. all i can say is this, is calzaghe kits kessler like he did lacy, calzaghe will win, if kessler can hit calzaghe like he did andrade, kessler will win. Im going with the younger, hungrier and stronger man kessler.

solid point you have there... its Kessler all the way... calzaghe will slap box and hurt/break/crack/fracture his hand more than he will hurt Kessler..

I see a KO victory by Kessler...

Calzaghe has only been knocked down twice in his career, and both times he got up to KO the guy in the same round i think. This one goes all the way regardless of who wins for me.

true you do have a point... maybe im just over estimating Kessler's power, because i've seen nothing but power from that man... he has what calzaghe dosnt have and thats some KO power but on the flip side calzaghe cant hit worth a sh*t but is fast and will slap the hell out of you a million times and well that hurts towards the late rds. but i think any fight Kessler is in will be a good fight... imagine Pavlik and Kessler?

pavlik kessler fight would be a war, but i would have to give the power edge to kessler, the man hits hard and has one hell of a jab. I think kessler will dominate calzaghe with that jab alone and eventually catch him with a flush right hand, calzaghe has fast hands but his head and upper body have little movement.

did you read the crap Dana white is talking about how bad boxing is and how it is doing bad and the ufc is taking over. its funny to me that he is willing to put his #155 guy in with a boxer but only in the octagon with UFC rules how does that make sense?

He cant be called the best Super MW on the planet until he starts fighting some other top Super MW's. 1 win over Lacy doesnt do it.

Yes Calzaghes resume reads like a whos who of top fighters. Joe's resume is as good as Holmes & Hopkins

That career defining win over Lacy should pave his way into the HOF.

What a freakin joke. How can you even compare the level of competition.

Until Calzaghe starts fighting top guys & not average fighters that the WBO ranks #1 for him he will only get respect overseas.

I noticed now that Hopkins is actually active again Joe has shut his hole & is directing his challenges to the Middleweight champ of the world who has been looking really bad lately. Man what courage.

im not taking sides but Dana was minding his business and PBF called the UFC and made fun of the sport. So Dana Laughed at him and told him to bring it and PBF said he could take any one of them so Dana had I think MATT "The terror" Serria to fight him and well ultimately PBF backed down. anyway if a UFC fighter and a boxer went into the same ring/octagon imagine how much money would be made... It would be the best of both worlds which would supersede PBF and DLH PPV stats... i think it would be more like 3. million something, maybe more.. anyway IMO a fighter that has the most knowledge has the advantage. and well in this case it would be the MMA guy... its just logic.. the more you know the better off you will be... but im not taking anything away from the sweet science of boxing... i just love and respect both worlds...

i wouldnt mind seeing a ufc or mma guy step into the ring, but i dont care for a boxer to go over into an octagon, to risky. haha liddel got his ass hammered last night with a pussy right hook by jackson. That was hilarious when they replayed it on espnnews.

lol.... yeah it was disappointing i guess, i just wanted to see it go longer, regardless of who won... but i think the ref should have let it go for about 1 to 2 more seconds to give him a chance... that was a boxing move there (pre mature stoppage). Normally they let it go a bit longer. But Jackson did get that hook and expose him...

Hahaha now its just sounding scarely like Lacy-Calzaghe fight. This is exactly the type of comment that everyone was making back then.
