According to a report by the BBC , WBO super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe plans to make the trip to the Fed-Ex Forum in Memphis on May 19, in order to sit ringside and watch WBC/WBO middleweight champion Jermain Taylor defend his crown against the current IBF junior middleweight champion, Cory Spinks.

Calzaghe is banking on a Taylor win to secure a potential September clash.

"My promoter Frank Warren was in the US recently to talk with Taylor's promoter Lou DiBella and they are hopeful something can be done," said Calzaghe. "I want to make it happen and I will be going to Memphis for Taylor's fight. I think this fight would be absolutely huge, rivalling anything in boxing in years, two undefeated champions very rarely get the opportunity to meet one another. If 35,000 people came to see me take on Peter Manfredo Jr, just imagine how many would want to see one of the fights of the decade."

he could still fight miranda/pavlik early next year poster, even if he loses to joe he'll still be middleweight champ.

taylors a bigger fight than kessler, and as much as i dont like taylor he's a better fighter than kessler to. 2 super champions fighting is great for boxing.

i know floyds got 36 days to relinquish either the 147 WBC belt or the 154 WBC belt, the same goes for taylor i think.

point being though he'd still be the ring champion even if he dont have the alphabet soups just like hop, hatton and pac. none of these guys have major titles.

I agree it is a bigger fight. Reason being because Taylor has a bigger name and won bigger fights than Kessler. But I truely feel that Kessler will beat Joe.

i agree with you to an extent shane, but what happens when joe beats kessler, by that time carl froch will have won an eliminator against inkin. that makes him mando to all titles. if joe fights taylor then again he'll be acused of ducking. its got to end somwhere lacy was joes career defineing fight and since then he's been made to wait for that huge money fight he deserves.

my point is joes proved he's the best for the last 10 years and he now deserves the fight with one of the mega names. taylor,hop,winky, kesslers just proved he's maybe the best of the rest and should have to wait his turn.
