Juan Carlos Payano (flyweight), a fast, fairly slick, rough, southpaw with an aggressive style and good workrate, frustrated and decisively defeated 2004 Olympic Flyweight Silver and 2000 Olympic Flyweight Bronze medalist Jerome Thomas, 29, from France 10-6. This bodes well for Payano as his opponents won't have as much amatuer experience (as his beaten foe) and (with the exception of Warren) will be an easier road to an Olympic medal (hopefully the Gold).
