To team palles website Mikkel Kessler today says that if Joe Calzaghe ends up fighting Roy Jones Jr., he wouldn't mind facing off against world middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik this autumn:

"I've told Mogens and Bettina Palle that I wouldn't mind fighting Pavlik. It's true that Kelly impresses with his power, but it's against opponents who neither move or punches back. He has never fought a Division A guy like myself!"

All talk. Don't see it happening. Kessler hasn't recovered well from Calzaghe, he's kept a really low profile, don't see him bouncing back in front of 58,000 fans :D

hasn't he always kept a low prfile until he wanted calzaghe. he wanted mundine for a title but then mundine didn't want to fight him and vacated also. miranda was chatting **** about him ebing scared. well miranda it seems he is goign for the guy he ebat your ass.

kessler has a good chance of beating pavlik. he saw pavlik fight at ringside. kessler is huge for a smw. he had to go butt naked to meet 168 lol. he should atleast compete like how taylor did in the second fight. some big hits and a steady workrate.

Someone's gonna be put to sleep in that fight. I'd bet all my points on the under. I'm confident this fight will happen because Calzaghe will chase the money and fight Jones. Pavlik talked about unifying the belts at middleweight but if Abraham beats Miranda there's no way Top Rank chooses him over a big name like Kessler.

This would be an awesome fight. Its a 50/50 and i wouldn't really want to bet on the winner in this fight. If i had to go with someone it would probably be Kessler.

Id actualy pick Kessler to beat Kelly.

My personal ratings from 160 to 175 are.

#1. Calzaghe.
#2. Kessler.
#3. Pavlik.
#4. Abraham.
#5. Bute.

Both have big power but the thing about it is Kessler coped fairly well with Calzaghes workrate which is bigger than Pavliks and Kessler also looks to have a great chin having never been down as pro or AM. Pavliks been down and hurt a few times against less punchers than Kessler too.

I think Kessler would beat Kelly and i think theres a strong chance he could actualy knock him out.

I agree. It is all talk. Kessler punked out against Miranda. I doubt he'll want to fight Pavlik. But it sounds good.

Get your facts right VD, Mirandas manager stitched him up over that deal.

He refused the offer team Kessler put to him without even telling Pantera.

Kessler The Kitten Shows His True Colors, Not His Claws; Pulls Out Of Miranda Fight, Goes Back Into Hiding

HOLLYWOOD, FL, March 26 – Apparently, it was too good to be true - a super middleweight showdown between a former world champion, Denmark’s Mikkel Kessler, and one of the sport’s brightest young stars, Edison Miranda, to be held on May 24th and aired on Showtime. But it’s not to be after Kessler pulled out of the bout today, giving no reason for his withdrawal.

Miranda, a former middleweight title challenger who is unbeaten with two knockouts in his first two super middleweight bouts, isn’t surprised.

“I didn’t get my hopes up because I know Kessler is afraid of me,” said Miranda. “We gave him everything he wanted to make this fight and he still wouldn’t take it. In fact, the only thing we didn’t give him is the opportunity to tie my hands around my back while we fought, but at this point I’m willing to even give him that because I know if I yelled ‘boo’ at him in the ring he’d turn and run. I said it before and I’ll say it again – he should be ashamed to call himself a Viking Warrior..”

Among the concessions Miranda and his promoter made to Kessler were that the bout would not be held on any Native American owned property, including the Seminole Hard Rock Live Arena in Florida or any other Hard Rock property, and that it wouldn’t even be held anywhere in the state of Florida. Financially, Kessler’s demands kept rising throughout negotiations, but due to a substantial offer by Showtime, all these demands would have been met if the fight came to fruition. Unfortunately, at this point it won’t.

“I am outraged by the behavior of the Kessler camp,” said Leon Margules, Executive Director of Seminole Warriors Boxing. “We sent them a contract with everything they asked for and then told Showtime we changed things. Please read their written deal point memo sent to us by them. We gave them everything they wanted. Showtime even moved the date form May 10th to May 24th to accommodate them. And then I did not receive the courtesy of a phone call but I had to hear from Showtime the fight was off. It is hard to believe that any person would do business this way. I guess the Kessler is really afraid of Miranda and they are covering for him. They must believe the only place they can win a fight against a real fighter is in Denmark.”

“If Kessler isn’t man enough to fight me, that’s okay because now the world knows that we gave him everything he asked for and still wouldn’t take the fight,” said Miranda. “I know that there has to be someone out there willing to fight me, and sooner or later, we’ll find him.”

The search for a high-profile opponent for Miranda continues. Stay tuned.

Here's what I think the top 5 as of now is:
#1. Calzaghe
#2. Pavlik
#3. Hopkins
#4. Dawson/ G. Johnson
#5. Kessler

To me it could be an argument that B-Hop could be #2 (in my opinion B-Hop won the fight, but it could've gone either way), but since Pavlik has yet to lose (and he's the undisputed middleweight champ), it would be unfair for me to do so. And Kessler has a little bit more work to do to be placed in my top 3.

3 pwned in one go, this is easy. LOL!

MIRANDA REFUSES TO FIGHT KESSLER IN FLORIDA! ( )

Now we know why the panther is an endangered species. A mere kitten has just chased Edison "La Pantera" Miranda up a tree. The "kitten" is former and future world super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler.

To put it in boxing language, Leon Margules, head of Seminole Warriors Boxing has just informed HBO executives that he is "not interested" in having Miranda fight former WBA and WBC champion Kessler on June 21 despite the fact that Kessler readily agreed to holding the fight for the soon to be vacated WBA super middleweight title at the Warriors Arena in Hollywood, Florida.

When this fight was trying to be put together for rival network Showtime, Margules sent out press release after press release accusing the Kessler team of being dirty. dishonest and scared of fighting the twice-beaten Miranda. The press releases compared Kessler to a pussycat and accused the man whose only loss in 40 pro bouts was to undefeated legend Joe Calzaghe of wishing to stay in "a cocoon" in his native Denmark. That conveniently ignored the fact that Kessler's first title was in Australia against Tony Mundine and that he willingly went to Wales to fight Calzaghe in front of 50,000 partisan fans.

"We called Miranda's bluff," Kessler matchmaker Mogens Palle said Monday night. "We lobbied for Miranda to move up from the Number 6 contender spot to Number 2 so that we could satisfy HBO with a title bout. We were willing to fight Miranda at the Seminole Warriors' own hotel-casino and arena in a non-title, over the weight 10-rounder or a 12-round WBA title bout.

"All the while Margules was pumping out demeaning and 100 percent false press releases about us and about Kessler being this meek, little kitten afraid to get into the ring with the big, bad Panther. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that Margules would fold like a cheap umbrella in a windstorm. When we agreed to come to his arena with four neutral, WBA officials and even got clearance on that from the Florida commission, I thought this fight was ready to be signed. So did the HBO people."

Margules gave the HBO executives the stunning news of Miranda's pullout about 3 pm, EDT.

"I am satsified that the HBO folks know that I wanted to fight Miranda, title or non title, on their air June 21. I am in training and I hope that HBO can find someone who is willing to fight me on that specific date. I will fight anyone they put in front of me for the right price."

Kessler's agent, Michael Marley, confirmed what Palle said.

"It was Mogens and Bettina (Palle, Kessler's manager) who made all the concessions here. It was the Palles who got Kessler accepted as the official WBA challenger. It was the Palles who lobbied for Miranda as a worthy Number 2 challenger behind only Mikkel in the WBA ratings. WBA President Gilberto Mendoza Jr. and his team did everything they could to make this highly-anticipated fight a reality. So did Lou DiBella. At the end, the bitter end, it was Margules who pulled the plug. I guess that's sadly appropriate since it was Leon who kept reneging on the terms and conditions for the Showtime deal. Now he's burned Showtime in one month and HBO in the next.
I just wonder if Pantera and his co-managers know what's been going on."

Finally, Marley asked what the public and media outcry would be if Miranda agreed to come to Denmark and Kessler bowed out.

"Everyone would be howling and rightfully so," Marley said. "But the shoe is on Miranda's foot and his promoter's foot. Kitten Kessler was ready to come to his house, to blow his house down and give Miranda a sound beating. But Margules just slammed the door in Kessler's face and HBO's face. I hope people keep these facts in mind when you read the next ridiculous press release about how everyone is so afraid of Miranda. Instead of crying over spilt milk regarding Glen Johnson losing a decision to Chad Dawson, Margules could have finalized this bout for Edison on HBO. Imagine the Panther, the fearsome fighter, turning down a world tiitle shot on HBO on his home grounds!"

Mogens Palle, who has kept boxing alive and strong in tiny Denmark for 50 years, will be inducted into the International Boxing Hall Of Fame on June 7 in Canastota, New York.
