As I watched Lennox Lewis have his lost title handed back to him, after being destroyed Saturday night. I found myself pondering numerous questions. Why did the fight not go to the score cards? Was it because it was in the contract not to after completing six rounds or was it because Lewis has a contract with HBO. I also asked myself, how much more of this nonsense can I view as paper champions such as Lewis and Roy Jones duck the warriors or lay on them throughout a fight while only concerned about the big payday. Did I pay to watch a rap group or a boxing match? Obviously it's all about the money. Lewis said he is like a fine wine which gets better with age, he looked more like yac juice to me. By the way, anyone who knows about fine wines knows that the best wines come from the Rhein mountains in Germany. There's some irony for ya. So much for having the large man for a meal. The entire boxing world saw Lewis have his lunch handed to him by the underestimated Klitschko. As my grandfather, an undefeated WWII Golden Gloves Champion would say," don't let your alligator mouth over run your parakeet butt." After twenty years as a boxing fan, I find myself asking if I'm paying to watch boxing or professional wrestling. Thank the heavens for ol George Foreman being there to put things into perspective. For he's the only HBO commentator who really knows anything about putting the gloves on and standing toe to toe with another warrior and having them throw thunder at him. Who am I to make such a comment? As I mentioned not only one but both of my grandfathers traveled throughout the military camps during the second WW boxing, both undefeated. Myself a Korean trained martial arts instructor, former full contact submission fighting state champ and Muay Thai kick boxer. I have felt the thunder and didn't break my nose four times playing table tennis. Lets pull it together, Merchant needs to stop bad mouthing the fighters and let the warriors do battle. Lets give the fight world what it deserves, the truth and a true champion. If Lewis is allowed to duck Klitschko for a rematch to keep his title, to put on a show of paper champions against Jones; not only will I not purchase the event but I'll cancel my subscription to HBO. Put the bums on the bus and let the dogs of war in the ring.
