Marlon Starling was one of the better fighters of the mid-late 80's. He TKO'd Mark Breland in a come from behind attack. Breland broke Starlings nose early on with a jab, but typical of Starling and his heart, he just fought on harder. In the rematch with Breland Marlon did much better, and IMO won the fight, but the judges ruled it a 12 round draw, which was a bad decision in my book.

Starling had an awkward style and decent defence. He could bang and when he fought, you were gonna get your moneys worth.

While at the hall of fame, he did a lecture and Q & A session. While he is nuts now, he did have some very good points. It was obvious that to earn a ton of respect from him, you have to be in at least one grueling war with someone. He respects all fighters greatly though. Unfortunately, he lost all of his money and is now a limo driver.

I'm not so sure how they would've fared against them though. I think ranking wise they were better off where they were.
