Mayweather V. Hatton Inevitable?

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has claimed he is retiring, stating "he has nothing else to prove". Well floyd I think you do. Floyd Mayweather is in my opinion a "hit and run" champion. Honestly has he really beaten anyone to even talk about. Well yes two fighters come to mind, castillo, and De la Hoya. The "win" against de la hoya was one of the most pitiful things I've ever seen. Also in his first bout aganst castillo he almost lost, but I will give Mayweather some credit on the second castillo fight, mayweather gave castillo a boxing lesson. In the upcoming month of june Castillo will be fighting Ricky hatton. After this bout it is inevitable that floyd and hatton fight, that is, if hatton wins ;). So I ask will mayweather come out to fight this british "hitman" or will he keep telling himself he has "nothing else to prove"

well since you are a newbie, i will welcome you to the boards but now i will go on my rant.
Mayweather beat one of the best lightweights of all time in gernaro hernandez, he beat an undefeated chico corrales at the time they fought, he beat a faster and heavier handed zab judah, beat the current cinderella man who was undefeated for got almost 10 years before mayweather beat him. He knocked off a warrior in gatti, beat angel manfredy who was very highly regarded in two rounds, he beat dellahoya very clearly to me, won agaisnt castillio both times, overcame adversity againt chop chop corley and won everyround it seemed. He may not have the resume of oscar delahoya but who does? Floyd also doesnt have a loss. name some champions besides marciano that went out like that, if marciano was fighting today, people would cry about how he beat up an old walcott and louis but they dont because hes this god figure. I agree on the part that mayweathe rneeds to keep fighting, but i dont see why he should. I think he beats all these other guys and delahoya again. I would love to see him prove my words too. I can almost guarentee you he isnt finished yet though. Retirement is very losely mentioned in the sport of boxing.

I think Mayweather will stay around to beat Hatton. Ricky has a great record and if he gets past castillo will be 43-0. I think Mayweather would pick him apart even though Hatton is very strong and tough.
agreed .
mayweather vs hatton has to happen, the best of britain vs the "best" of america. the money in this fight could even rival floyd vs oscar, massive PPV both sides of the pond, thats not happened since lewis v tyson.

the money this fight would generate means the fight will definatly happen and i see my boy ricky outworking a lazy mayweather over 12 rounds.
mayweather and lazy dont belong in the same sentence.
If a good Ricky showed up he would give Mayweather a hell of a tough fight. Hatton would just have a relentless body attack for 12 straight rounds i dont know if PBF could handle it.

From what iv heard a lot of the doubters will be silenced and PBF will made to sit up and take notice after the Castillo fight;)
if hatton throws a body attack all night, he'll get destroyed to the head. mayweather loves rolling punches to the body and then coming back with an uppercut or straight right. And as far as body attack, ill put money on the fact that mayweather can take a bodyshot better than any fighter in the business.

Why would you put money on that? Just an opinion or is there a reason why?

Hatton has a lot of heart and an astonishing work rate, with his persistance i think he could be outwork PBF and steal it on points. Just my opinion though.

he's never been in with a body puncher on hattons level, rickys probably the best in the business right now at that.

collazos face in the 6th i think was just sheer agony, bring floyd on for ricky the hitmans the guy for the job.
P4P id say Hatton has the best body shot easily.

TysonJones, thank you for your feedback, I understand what your saying about Mayweather giving it to hattons head if he go's for the body, but Mayweather has never faced an opponent with the shear intensity of Hattons attacks, not to mention Hattons ability to take a punch and keep right on going, and on top of that Hatton is one of the only fighters in the buisness right now that can stick it out 110% all 12 rounds like Mayweather. I also believe that such a body attack from a fighter like Hatton would slow Floyds hands and cause him to drop that right arm he always leaves down. Hatton and mayweather are both great fighters, this would be one great fight
welcome, personally i think cotto hits much harder to the body and lands more cleanly. As for placing punches and accuracy, mayweather definently has that edge too. Back when mayweather faught castillio, castillo pressure the whole fight and had the stamina, rumored was that he broke a few mayweather ribs. It will be a great fight, but ill go with the p4p king.

You could make decent cases for both guys being able to win. If that about Castillo is true then big respect to PBF, it takes alot of heart to with stand injuries like that and keep going.

I hope we get to see this fight, it makes alot of sense. Outside of DLH-PBF rematch the biggest money would be Hatton-PBF, because that would make huge PPV numbers both sides of the pond.
very true lad, the only reason im taking mayweather is because hatton resmebles castillio in his prime, and castillio couldnt do it in his prime so i dont see hatton doing it, but i do see hatton giving him trouble like castillio but overal i got mayweather out on top but by no means would i couldnt hatton out, especially if he fights him like he did zu.

Perfect post. Lance, I'm back. I've been out for the weekend handling some business.
Fanatics=you guys.

"Any body would have beaten Chico the day he met with PBF Chico had to cut 18# the day of the weigh-in" by Shane and I think it’s true.

PBF is a Boxer/sprinter and nothing else
As a Boxer/sprinter I give him his credit.
As a top 10 “Fighter” he doesn't make the cut.
PBnoballsF.
Right now I hate Hatton he is the complete opposite of PBnoballsF no skills/very aggressive and getting un-earned Ws
That said
If Ricky "punch, hold and head bunt” Hatton got it on with **** talking
PBnoballsboxer/sprinterF.

GO HATTON all the way.

Because Floyd has the rockiest midsection in the fight game. Oscar caught him with some perfect body shots and he didn't wince.

Miguel Cotto is the best bodypuncher in the business.
