For the last few years, there has been a welterweight inside of Miguel Cotto screaming to get out. Finally, Cotto has answered that voice inside of him and will make his welterweight boxing debut against Carlos Quintana, a fellow undefeated Puerto Rican, for the WBA title at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City on Dec. 2.
In Saturday night's main event, Miguel Cotto (28-0, 23KO's) of Caguas, Puerto Rico, became the newly crowned WBA Welterweight champion by pounding Carlos "El Indio" Quintana (23-1, 18 KO's) into submission via vicious body assault in a five-round thriller.
