Mundine v. Calzaghe/Kessler/Taylor/Wright

In an interview yesterday when appearing on a sporting/comedy variety show... Mundine stated that he was going to beat Joe Calzaghe and Mikkel Kessler in The Super Middleweight Division.

He then went on to state that he plans on losing a few pounds and beating Winky Wright and Jermain Taylor in The Middleweight Division.

Some Australians "respect him now" because he has "proven them all wrong" through his victories over fellow Ausralian Boxers Danny Green and Sam Soliman... and also... by the fact that he is now a 2-Time WBA Super Middleweight Champion.

I say again... when Mundine took on 3 World Class Fighters in The Supper Middleweight Division... he was knocked out COLD by Sven Ottke... didn't like that... so he boxed on the outside against Mikkel Kessler and Manny Siaca... knowing that if he got too close... he'd get knocked out again... and Mundine's too scared to be knocked out.

He lost those 2 fights by Unanimous Decision.

So far... he is yet to have any real legitimate victories.

Green and Soliman were just as overrated as he was... and The Australian Boxing Scene at the moment isn't much for starters... and that win over Antwun Echols? He just barely got off a court date... and didn't have the time to train and prepare properly for the fight.

Mundine's shameless self promotion tactics (Rap Music, Video Clips, TV Shows, Celebrity Big Brother etc) are just stupid!

I admit he is a good athlete and a good boxer (and should've stuck with Rugby League)... he is not great... and those 4 NON-AUSTRALIAN Guys that he says he will beat... HE IS DREAMING!

He even stated that he plans on winning World Championships in several other weight divisions... not just Super Middleweight and Middleweight.

Does anybody here think that he can beat the likes of Calzaghe/Kessler/Taylor/Wright?:D

AWESOME... I feel so great now that people agree with me over my hatred for Anthony "The Man" Mundine!
The Australian Boxing Scene is so crap at the moment... their two best boxers from the last decade or so were both born and raised in other countries for the first 20 or so years of their lives before they became Australian Citizens!

They still have Sam Solomon :)
But he was beaten by Anthony Mundine... which just goes to show how overrated he was in the first place. Being really fit and being able to throw a gbzillion punches isn't all there is in boxing!

I was being extremely sarcastic. :) He throws the weirdest punches I've ever seen.
The thing about Australian Boxers is that... nowadays... they all think they're tough. They probably are. They think that because they're built with Six-Packs... can throw hard punches... and are really fit... that that's all you need to make it as a boxer... right? WRONG!!! There is so much more to it... PSYCHOLOGY... different kinds of punches... Stamina... EVERYTHING... Australian Boxers suck... they're just thugs with tattoos who get into pointless drunken brawls and pubs, bars and nightclubs... who probably did Kickboxing in the first place. Most kickboxers who become boxers SUCK... Randall 'Tex' Cobb was "OK" and so was PAUL BRIGGS (who is Australian... although he was born in New Zealand)... but these Australian Boxers talk themselves up like they're top ****... and the media does so as well... BUT THEY'RE NOT TOP ****!!! They are SECOND RATE when compared to African-American Boxers... Latinos, British, Irish... hell... EVEN WHITE AMERICANS... the rest of the world perhaps... FILLIPINOS... so on and so forth! Australian Boxers are in their own stupid thuggish mob world... and that's not boxing!!!

You seem to have had a bad time in Australia one time bro
I did... they're so up themselves! DAMN!!!

Hahaha I was just kidding but was right! :) I've never been there myself.
It's a country that's become a shameless self parody of itself and they're too dumb to realise it... WHERE THE BLOODY HELL ARE YA?

I understand your defending of Mundine but you are defending losses. Soloman had a good showing with Mayweather due to his akward style but after he figured him out that was it. I just do not see mundine as anything special. Maybe he will prove us all wrong but I doubt it.
Mundine is good in Australia and its scene... put him on the world stage... and he is dog meat to "THE BIG LEAGUES!"

I was thinkin the same thing, how ironic. :)
GREAT... WE AGREE ON SOMETHING... CHEERS!!!

EDIT JOB: Actually... we do agree on quite a lot in the first place... HA HA... and that Australian got really pissed off...

but I will admit... my problem is mainly with Mundine... sorry... I LOVE AUSTRALIA... it's a very lucky nice... place!

I think all professional boxers are talented. Hence the word professional.
Mundine has got talent... his just not THAT talented! Actually... Mundine could have a chance against Jeff Lacy???:dunno:

lacy would destroy mundine in 5 rounds. id bet my house on it.
Well... I've made a thread about it... check it out... and knowing that a lot of people hate Jeff Lacy... if he did that to Mundine... that'd make Mundine look PATHETIC... wait a minute... "YOU'D BET YOUR HOUSE ON IT?" MAN!!!
It's kind of sad... Mundine is 31 (closing in on 32)... and most of us (all of us) are in agreement that he is not ready yet... or simply just isn't good enough... to take on Kessler (again), Calzaghe, Wright... and to a lesser extent... Taylor and Lacy! :)
You may notice in that Kessler fight that Mundine didn't want to get to close... in fear of getting knocked out (like he was by Sven Ottke). Some people said that it was his best performance ever... when really... he was just overly careful because he was too scared of getting knocked out... and lost by Unanimous Decision!
PrettyBoyFloyd said:
So what part of Australia are you from?
Probably The Bogan Part... did he just say that Mundine can beat Calzaghe? That makes me laugh!

Welcome to the board Jahobe. Although our opinions differ I do not want to cause you to think that the forum is going to attack everything you say. We need more members and thanks for joining.

But...Mundine is no Calzaghe :)
Mundine has no chance at all whatsoever against Calzaghe... and jahobe... sorry about before... WELCOME TO THE FORUMS YOUNG MAN!!!
The things is... The Super Middleweight Division isn't really much... you've got Calzaghe who I reckon is the greatest Super Middleweight of all time... Kessler... Ottke (I just threw him in there), Siaca, Lacy and yes... Mundine... but all those guys that I mentioned beforehand are above him... and I say again... Lacy would knock Mundine the **** out... HELL YEAH!:D
I actually find the Light Heavyweight Division a lot more interesting... it does offer a little but more than The Super Middleweight Division. How would the Super Middleweight Division interest me? This is how...

If Jeff Lacy were to improve his overall boxing skills... get a rematch against Joe Calzaghe... AND WIN!!!

That would get me very interested in The Super Middleweight Division... as a matter of fact... ANYONE... who LEGITIMATELY beats Joe Calzaghe... would get me interested in The Super Middleweight Division! :cheeky4:

In saying... AGAIN... MUNDINE CANNOT BEAT CALZAGHE!
PrettyBoyFloyd said:
Lacy has no shot against Calzaghe unless Calzaghe turns 40 overnight.
Okay... well that's 5 years away... so by the time Calzaghe is 40... Lacy would be 35... I can wait for that!

Yeh:p The damn pain when you first break your hand is friggin hard to bear, they do very well to continue and imo that is true heart.. fighting through pain to be the champ!
Well said... one that get hurts but continues is BRAVE!
PrettyBoyFloyd said:
The only fight that needs to happen is Calzaghe/Kessler. That's it. And then, after that if these other guys can mount enough of a run to get a shot at Joe let em have it. If not, give Taylor a shot please! I want to see Calzaghe vs. Taylor so damn badly. As most of you know I can not stand Taylor and see Calzaghe handing him his ass.

Mundine vs. Calzaghe would be stupid.
Kessler vs. Lacy? Who cares.
Mundine vs. Lacy? Who cares.

Sven Ottke.
Sven Ottke.

Lacy is a one dimensional third grader in the ring. He's big as Hell but doesn't have the skill to get it done.
When you say big you mean short and stocky for a Super Middleweight... right? He is 5'9" and 168lbs. which is rather unorthodox for a Super Middleweight. 3rd rate of not... he'll kick Mundine's ass if he ever gets the chance to do so! :)
