I've been boxing for about a month now, i know the basics, jab, cross, and just a little of the hook. In a few days i will be fighting someone outside of the ring. My opponent has no experience in boxing but can fight. he has a powerful right hand and not so much a left. he likes to wind up for that hook or the powerful straight right. i am alot faster than he is.we are about the same size but he has about 15 more pounds than me. iam 156, he is about 165. if i use the jab will it be effective? (12 oz gloves) i might be winning the rounds but 1 of his punches could change the whole thing. iam just wondering if you guys have any techniques that i could use. it would be helpful. thanks. suggestions?

JAB JAB JAB
Throw the jab. Stick it right in his face everytime he winds up. He can't it what he can't see. Not one jab but at least 2. If you get caught inside and don't have a target, hit his arms or shoulders. Let him catch the punches with his arms. It will wear out his punching power and drop his defense. Keep your feet moving and ALWAYS move in and out at DIFFERENT angles. If he is a head hunter, don't let your head led yoru body. Keep moving keep jabing and get off FIRST when you see him winding up. Just be sure when he winds up that he isn't setting you up for a counter.
