So I need some advice/help on boxing, so I thought I would come to a boxing forum. So some buddies and me have been backyard boxing for the last month (16oz gloves).

I boxed a buddy about a month ago and gave him a bloody nose, and since then he had been beaking me so I promised I would give him a rematch, I told him to pick a date. Seeing he has more experience then me (he is the only one I have boxed, while he has been in 4 matches) he said Saturday, and not wanting to back down again(I have had baseball games like the last 3 times i was going to box him) I agreed

Note: I ramble on a lot/tend not to make so much sense, so I apologize in advance if this post gets a little on the long side/my English fades off. Anyway, we don’t really do timed rounds we box until we are “pooched”. So the last couple days I have been working out mostly on my core/shoulders/arms (again im not that big of a guy, but I thought I would give it a shot) usually before I go to sleep (dunno if the time of day makes a difference, but that’s why im here) I also have been jogging/biking (again which one is better for cardio?). I’ m planning on going into this fight 100% sober, where I know he will smoke weed at least once a day for the next 5 days.

So he is coming off a win and the most experience I have is “Fight Night Round 3” -_-. So this is where Im hoping someone here can help. I probably should be thinking I will win this fight, which I do, but I also feel kind of bad seeing no one would shut up after I clocked him in the nose, which I think is my weakness. Anyway, I will post the videos of the matches (I wouldn’t call it good boxing, because again almost every time it’s during UFC, so no one is really sober)

Also we will be getting helmets for the next few fights, because from the last few matches people have been getting more vicious. So here are the clips, any help at all would be appreciated (combo suggestions, my or his weaknesses, anything)

Also I wouldn’t call either of us good boxers(actually I would call us both terrible), just giving you a warning, again we aren’t too sober so there is a lot of flying flurries. So lay easy on the flaming.

Me(stripped shirt) vs Him YouTube - Dustin vs Jordan
Him(no shirt) YouTube - Mike vs Jordan
Him(no shirt) YouTube - Rhys vs Jordan
Him(right side) YouTube - Jordan vs Scott

Also I don’t really know what to do when im getting charged, so any suggestions on that would again help

Thanks a lot.

well since you came here and want advice, my advice is to never do what your doing again because that is not boxing. That was plain ugly. All of you guys are slow, have no power, have terrible defense, dont even know how to throw a punch, your all skinny as hell, Done of you guys can take a good punch, i saw you guys get staggered by long luppy slow punches with 16 oz gloves, try using 10 ox. Those dont even look like real boxing gloves either. They look major padded. You want soem advice, stay in school.

Umm before I start first let me say this

Okay, both of you dudes look terrified of being hit. That was worse than watching sam solimon fight. I would suggest that you either A, find a gym with a decent trainer or B GIVE UP. I don't mean it in a bad way, but you just don't seem to understand the slightest bit of what boxing really is about. However, anyone can make it if they give it all the have. I was only able to force myself through the first 15 seconds of the first video because that looked like a highschool parkinglot fight.

Oh and the GLOVES
I seriously doubt Mike Tyson could KO anyone with those. But in all seriousness, if you want it, go get it.

after reading what i said, looks like i was a little harsh and looks to of scared you guys off, please talk to us and let us know how you feel about what we said. It'll make you a better fighter with the critism we give you. The anger you feel will make you train harder. Anyoen can do it, but boxign is about the hardest thing to do mentally and physically. Its not as easy as you think, even fighteres with pro records of 10 wins and 20 losses are in reality, very good fighterse and would desttroy the average person. Learn the basics, and it can get you far. True boxers hardly ever lose a street fight if that is more motivation for you.

wafflecone.

I must say you came to right place as you can see the first few responses came from boxers/fighters with at least 100-0-0 each so they will help you allot in your boxing journey.
Let me also help understand their arrogance the 2 of them whir born knowing how to throw a punch and the boxing mechanics was/is in their DNA so it’s hard for them to see how we the average person has to LEARN how to box. Also let me add that they are also master license trainers and BTW they are so good at training people that they also train them self’s. LOL.
Anyway back to you guys.

I admire what you guys are doing because to put on boxing gloves and stand in front of some one with no head gear or protection takes [email protected]

Get your self a
1-punching bag
2-speed bag
3-jump rope
And the most important things
1-hector Camacho tapes
2-PBF tapes
And
3- Pernell Whitaker tapes
And watch them at least 3 times a week.
And BTW it all works better with out the drugs and Alcohol have fun

im sorry dave, its not called balls, its called stupidity, and im no 100 and 0, im 43 -3 as of right now. Im guesing you are the same kind of person who goes out and fights like that. The reason they dont have headgear is because they are young and dont want to pay the money to get headgear. thats the only reason. Headgear also doesnt protect you that much, it protects your hands more than the other persons head. Theres a little lesson for you as well dave.

Dude my point
They are young and are coming to a place where they think they could get good advice.
To better them selves and for you specially you being 43-3 should know better then to be so condescending (what’s to gain from it) boxing needs as much young blood as it can get, but to here people (like you) that are in the game come out so (to put it nicely) ridiculous is really sad to say the least.
And BTW I probably looked worse then they did the first few times I stepped in the ring.
But lucky for me I was surrounded by positive people that instead of trying to embarrass me they helped me.
And it wasn’t a personal attack it was just my interpretation of the person making the comments.

i know what your coming form but MY point you just made perfect. You said your first time in the RING, they are in the backyard. They either need to find a gym where people can watch over them, even though they couldnt hurt each other with those big gloves. but it looks like they arent returning so lets drop this. Were cool dave.

i respect what you are all saying, i know none of us are boxers, but we love the sport, like i said i will be taking a course, so i hope to get better. Its not like we are taking it serious(well i guess i kinda am seeing i am asking for advice) but for the most part we are just fooling around, were friends, why would we want to hurt each other? It's not like were in it for the money, so why not use 16oz gloves?

But yeah say whatever you want, because i already knew all of it, but i didnt come here to be flamed, i came here for advice on how to be better, usually what forums are for.

Its not like im gonna get mad over the internet...

well in all honesty, there are plenty other sports you can do with little risk. Boxing isnt a sport, whether your playing around or not, that you cant just not get hurt. Its giogn to happen, even with 16 oz gloves. Doesnt seem like you can do significant damage with those anywayz but damage doesnt show up until the later years in life. If they are your friends and you dont want to hurt them, i suggest playing basketball. If you want to "backyard" box, then get somsone who you dont like and someone that doesnt like you. That will be the only way to test yourself.
