Valuev defeats Bergeron!

For the first time since losing his world title, former WBA heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev successfully returned to the ring on Saturday night at the EWE Arena in Oldenburg, Germany. The seven-foot tall Valuev (47-1, 34 KOs) looked very comfortable in the ring as he unveiled his new style in his first fight under trainer Alexander Zimin. Unfortunately, his opponent Jean-Francois Bergeron (27-1, 19 KOs) showed little interest in trading punches with the "Russian Giant." Valuev tried to press the action, but the previously unbeaten Bergeron's 'hit and run' strategy kept him on the move mostley outside Valuev's huge wingspan and way outside his own punching range. The twelfth round was the most exciting in the fight as Valuev tried his best to KO Bergeron, but in the end he had to be content with an easy 118-111, 117-111, 118-111 points win. Valuev claimed Bergeron's NABA heavyweight title.
