Hello. I've been browsing this forum for a few days and been pretty impressed with the knowledge seen here. So, it's time to take advantage, I think.

Basically, the aim of my training routine would be to get fit and be able to fire a few punches. No competitive fighting, for the moment, at least.

I'm 18 years old and relatively fit. Here's what I have to work with:

3 days per week.
Few dumbells.
Sparring kit (and a willing twin brother.)
No local boxing gym.
Heavy bag.

Has anyone got a few ideas for a weekly training schedule?

Thanks,

John.

for sparring do you have handwraps, gloves, a mouthpiece and headgear?

On the days you train do 3 rounds of jump rope
4 rounds of heavy bag
2 rounds shadowboxing with weights ( 2 or 3 pounds )
2 rounds shadow boxing with a resistance band
30 pushups
and try to run 5 or 6 miles a week or more if you can

you should also get a pair of mitts since you have a brother you can train with

2 sets of everything except headgear. Is it completely necessary? Is there anyway to improvise a decent headgear?

Thank you very much. How long do you think the rounds should last?

Yep, definitely something to think about. It looks like part of my boxing training is going to be reliant on the enthusiam of my brother. ;P

I wouldent recommend sparring on a regular basis without headgear, you might get hurt. Even the pro's spar with headgear. You can get some cheap ones for like 20 dollars each its better then nothing.

The rounds should last 3 minutes each with 30 second breakes or a minute inbetween, up to you.

Cheers. Assuming I can get headgear, how often should I do sparring out of the 3 days training?

By the way, what's your boxing experience? (Not doubting, just interested)
