Jones vs Taylor in June on HBO PPV.

While it was announced this past weekend by Bob Arum that Kelly Pavlik's next opponent could be the former middleweight champion Tito Trinidad, BoxingTalk has learned that a showdown between Jermain Taylor and Roy Jones Jr. is brewing, and could take place as soon as June. Taylor has already agreed to the fight, and is willing to either give the lion's share of the purse to Jones or accept a buyout from Don King. The fight would be aired on HBO PPV, and would be fought at an agreed 170-pounds. Jones last fight was his Janunary dismantling of Tito Trinidad, while Taylor's stock rose with his hard fought, but close fight with Pavlik this past weekend.

This is a boxing forum, we make sure to keep all current news flowing, so many do care. Its a fight between 2 big names, if you don't care, thats your oppinion. I'm interested however.
If this happened and RJJ pulled it off I'd say right here right now that he has plenty of gas left in the tank and should start another title puch.
Well it's kind of interesting. I'll pull for Taylor in this one, but it won't be easy.
there's only a couple of fighters I'd be pulling for agsinst Jones. Taylor ain't one of them
Taylor Vs Jones Jr?
Taylor By KO.
Don't get me wrong Jones is a great fighter but i feel he should hang it up.
The reason i say that is because he didn't KO Trinidad. He does'nt have it in him to beat young boy Taylor.
Jones should see Bhop again.
Im going to say Jones UD.
Interesting fight, and again another fight I wouldnt know where to put my money on. It all comes down to Jone's actual state, wich I dont know how good Jones still is.
If you watch the pavlik/taylor II fight, you can see jones sitting ringside and you can see him smiling and shaking his head constantly. I think he knows exactly what he's getting himself into.
i'd probably go with jones over taylor, but i think jermain could beat him.
Its a toss up, I just think Jones will outpoint him.

Only thing I dont like the 170 weight, I would be more confident on Jones if he were at 175..

seriously mate! were you bullied at school?

you are constantly just posting to try and p*ss people off!

have you got nothing better to do?
i'd say RJJ still has what it takes to go the distance with a fighter like taylor, i think it would be quite a dull fight, much like taylor-pavlik II

Taylor was boxing safe against pavlik and i think he'd do the same against RJJ!

i don't think the five pounds would make that much of a difference for jones. either way, the winner of this fight will be the fighter who lets his hands go more. i think roy will be that fighter, but jermain is capable of letting his hands go too. i thought he would've gotten the nod against pavlik if he would've been more busy. getting ktfo by a fighter will make you keep it in your holster, so it's understandable for him to have a restricted performance against pavlik. chances are he'll be more inclined to be more active against jones after regaining a little confidence which would make for an exciting fight. this fight shouldn't be on ppv imo.
All of yall are making good points but i still think Taylor can get through the Jones guard and touch that suspect chin of his.
Once again, I give Jones Props and hes great, I just don't see him taking a Taylor 1-2 after the 7th round with the ropes cradling his back.
put it like this. roy better not even think about fighting taylor the way he fought tito. i'd expect him to open up his arsenal a little, and include more movement. he's not going to sit on the ropes and cover up against taylor. well, at least i hope he doesn't for his own sake.
I think 170 is a benefit for rj nowadays. It makes him train that much more to make the weight and thats what he needs.
It wouldnt surprise me at all if RJJ beat Taylor. Taylor likes fighters to come to him, and if Roy fought negatively with alot of movement he could make Taylor look very bad and win a UD. I don't think it would be a very good fight though, both guys are more entertaining when there opponent comes to them rather than having to be the aggressor themselves.
