Pacquiao Wants Juan Diaz

Former multi-division champion Manny Pacquiao says he wants to fight lightweight Juan Diaz. At 135lbs, Juan Diaz may be the best, holding the WBA, WBO and IBF titles but Joel Casamayor has the true world championship. Pacquiao claims his preference is to fight Juan Diaz is because Diaz is a right hander and has a tendency to get hit. As of late, it has been rumored that Pacquiao would be fighting WBC lightweight belt holder David Diaz, a southpaw. Many boxing fans and even WBC President Jose Sulaiman are practically begging Pacquiao to rematch world junior lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez but it seems clear that Manny intends on moving up in weight. Top Rank and GBP have actually discussed the possibility of Marquez-Pacquiao taking place above 130 pounds without a title on the line. A prior agreement between Top Rank and GBP mandates that the Marquez fight would mean a 57-43% split in favor of Pacquiao. Manny would undoubtedly receive a larger share if he were to fight either Diaz. Pacquiao has an HBO PPV date scheduled for March 15th of 2008.

I highly doubt he will go after Juan. If he moves up the Diaz he will fight will NOT be Juan IMO. I think he stays with a Marquez fight, but we shall see.
I dont see the Juan fight happening then either.
No way should he fight Juan straight away, I think David Diaz would be good. Firstly he should fight JMM in a rematch at 130 though, theres unfinished business there.

I agree. It should be. Marquez then David then Juan.
I don't care who does it, but I want Manny to get beat.

He will once he steps up in weight
Joel Casamayor is garbage, and Juan Diaz would be a good fight. I'd still pick Manny. He's much faster of hand and foot and should have great power at that weight.
manny and Diaz are the most exciting boxers in the world today and i would love to see that fight happen, Diaz 10rd tko.

I don't think he would get beat by Juan Diaz. I hope not.
Diaz looked very impressive in his last couple fight, but i dont know if its him being that good or just the incompetence of his opponents.

But either way i want Manny to kick his ass.
Juan is too much for Manny. He keeps improving in each fight just like Cotto does.
I think Manny would be too much for Diaz and for one reason : Diaz is good with hooks and uppercuts but he's wide open for sraight punches in the middle. Manny throws mostly straight (and hard) punches. Also notice how Diaz stays right in front of you after he throws his combination. A fighter with a good timing, footspeed and in & out style like Manny would prevail against Diaz IMO.
i'd favor diaz against pac. the fights pretty even across the board as far as i'm concerned. i think the naturally younger, bigger fighter will prevail should they meet.

If you think he just stands there then you must not have seen him fight. And no is not open for straight punches if hes throwing straights and hooks 5 to 10 punch combos at a time.

This is an excellent breakdown of the styles, and why I also would predict a Pacquaio win.

Good work!

He shows some head movement and jabs a little but he stays right there after he lands his "right hook left hook" flurries. He keeps coming forward with his gloves up unlike Pac who shows some rythm (in & out, side to side) and a better variety of punches.

Thanx Captain! Real recognize real
Pac Man loses in a very entertaining fight. thats how I see it.
With these two explosive fighters it will be entertaining for sure.
Oh man, this fight would be so damn good. I honestly don't recall either guy taking a step backwards in their entire career. It would be an all-out war, i think Pac would win the fight though.
