Please explain why you have him at #1.
Brutus said:I dont think anyone rates him at #1 but most people rank him in theire top 10, hell some rank him at their top 10. And i think TysonJones has problaby told u about 50 times why anyone would rate him that high. Ive problaby read him telling us why. Just go to one of the top 10 hw list i agree him with him fully and i think i rank him nr 8 if i remember right.
LOL. Great case for him being #1, he beat up an old, out of shape Holmes. Bravo!!! Bravo!!!KNUCKLE UP said:Because he beat the hell outta Holmes!:cheeky4: Sorry, I had to Bill!
Buster Douglas did. Its not fair to judge one fighter on their prime, and the rest on their whole career, when they are past their prime too. You have to base it on their whole career, and Tyson's career as a whole falls short in the 90's. He had 5 great years, and 10 not so great years, and that is a big blow.TysonJones said:because in his prime, i honestly dont think anyone could of beat him.
TysonJones said:Tyson trained what 2 weeks and should of won the fight when he knocked douglas down for 14 seconds but bill, why make a thread just so you can piss everyone off. Tihs is the same da** thing we always talk about, give it. The tyson that faced douglas wasnt no prime tyson, he had already stopped caring about boxing and stopped training. Prime Tyson would of walked of douglas in a heartbeat, just like holyfield did in the third round. But you wanted a reason, i gave you a reason and i refuse to argue anymore about this rediculous topic.
I never said Marciano is #1, and I can tell you, there are at least 10 fighters that would beat a prime Tyson.TysonJones said:ill tell you one thing that is for sure, marciano isnt # 1. thats for da** sure. like ive said many times, there are at least 20 heavies after marciano that would ko him.
Its not 200, its barely even 50. So your saying he would beat them by hitting them after the bell or with an elbow or on a break?daveDaboxingfan said:Plus 1000
Now get lost Bill with your 200 year old heavy list.
Tyson in his prime
he would have beat your top 20 list IRON MAN STYLE.
OK bill you win Tyson should not even be ranked.
Because he's exciting? I think you and TJ are confusing excitment with greatness. he fought a lot of not so great guys, which made him look all the better. His 2 top wins are against out of shape, old fighters.daveDaboxingfan said:you need to Call TJ and order the complete tyson set.
and may be you will finaly see why he was the best of the best..
What did I do now? All I said was I think that you and Dave are getting a little confused between exciting fighters, and great fighters, thats all. Its not big deal.TysonJones said:dont ever tell me that im confused between exciting and greatness bill, dont you ever disrespect my knowledge of this sport.
Gee...I wonder if your trying to get me annoyed? My dream match and result already happened...a nobody knocking Tyson out and exposing him for the fraud he really is.KNUCKLE UP said:One of my dream hvy matchups would be to see Tyson knock Marciano's block off.
Oh, on youtube I found a real good video of Lewis. It is called "Lennox Lewis hardest punches" there are 3 parts to it. It covers his whole career, I found it entertaining.TommyGunn said:gotta love lance and bill, one has unconditional love and the other has pure hatred.
bravo guys, this makes for one heated thread. :cheeky4:
I don't hate him, I just recent him as a person, and his tactics as a fighter, other than that, I love the man.TommyGunn said:gotta love lance and bill, one has unconditional love and the other has pure hatred.
bravo guys, this makes for one heated thread. :cheeky4:
You bet I was, but now I'm having a blast.PrettyBoyFloyd said:Man you guys crack me up. Bill you must be very bored to make a new I HATE TYSON thread
Nope, he lost 4 amerature fights, but never a profesional. Apparently I hit a raw nerve, you'll love what I say about Jones Jr next.:cheeky4:TysonJones said:Bill, im pretty sure maricano lost a few of his early fights that arent on record. so stop your yapping.......
Your close, he started as a pro named Rocky Mack because no one could pronounce his last name, and he knocked the guy out, then he fought in an amerature fight under the name of Rocky Marsh, and lost, then he came back as a pro as Rocky Marciano. So he's still an undefeated pro fighter.TommyGunn said:its rumoured rocky fought and lost as a pro, went back to the amatuers then turned pro again with 0-0 record.
:cheeky4: ...PrettyBoyFloyd said:I can truly tell Bill. I'll leave you guys in privacy.
Southpaw447 said:Becuase at the time he was the youngest HW champion at 20 years old and had a string of I think over 20 wins by KO.
Thats pretty damn hard to do.
Plus the guy is funny as hell.
He didn't have hear in my book. You could litterally see the fight go out of him when Holyfield dropped him, the same happened when Douglas was beating him. Everytime Tyson was hit back after he gave his best, the fight went out of him. He is sort of lucky that Bonecrusher Smith only hit him and made an effort to win in the 12th round. Smith hit him with a good shot and the fight was taken out of Tyson. I hope he's not an inspiration as a person to you, because if he is...I would suggest looking for a different one, he is a bad person.Shoot, I have Tyson as my number one because he to me is the most entertaining boxer, he works hard in the gym, he has heart, and just an inspiration to me. Who can really argue with that?..
I agree. I find it hard to rate Tyson in the top 10 when his 2 best wins were against, rusty, older, shot versions of what once were great fighters. As for the other guys Tyson beat during his reign, they weren't nearly as close as they would have been had they not been older and weren't destroyed and lazy due to drugs.I would characterize Tyson's career as short and brilliant, but would just barely put him in the top ten. For "greatness" I like to see it displayed over time. Tyson didn't. Also, the level of competition was questionable. We'll never know how much heart he really had because we never saw him in a war or get up from a knock down. As Bill stated, all his tough fights he lost.
I guess you don't have to go through adversity to be labled great but it helps.
A Prime Ali, Holmes, or other master boxer would have given him fits.
