Pimp C, real name Chad Butler -- and one half of the rap duo UGK, was found dead in a hotel room this morning. He was 33.

L.A. County Fire responded to a 911 call at the Mondrian Hotel, located on trendy Sunset Strip in Hollywood. They arrived to his sixth floor hotel room to find him dead in bed.

UGK is best known for appearing on the Jay-Z track "Big Pimpin'" in 2000, and more recently with Outkast on the song "International Player's Anthem (I Choose You)." Pimp C had just performed with fellow rapper Too Short at the "House of Blues" in L.A. on Saturday night.

Story developing ...

Same here although I didn't really see him as a solid lyricist. He was just funny and happen to be in a duo with one of my favorites, Bun B. Still no news as to how he died.

What shocked me was I was listening to the new UGK on my way to school when I got the text message. I really hope that this wasn't a drug/violence related death, but it is almost certain to be just so. First Sean Taylor and now the Pimp. RIP.

I know man, its tough. Pimp C is kinda too young to have any medical problems.....but I don't know.I'm confused through this whole mess about both deaths of Taylor and Pimp C.

yeah thats really fucked up. He just got done on a 4 year bid back on December 30th of 2005. That sucks he didn't really get to enjoy his legal hustling money. He was the one who got all that "Free Blah Blah" **** too. Back in 02 Rap-A-Lot artist starting sporting the "Free Pimp C" shirts and then every other rapper started doing it. Shits sad. Really feel bad for him and his family. The Sweet James Jones Stories was a good album and the UGK Ridin Dirty album was a classic. Messed up. Some quotes from him:

one of my favorite UGK tracks just happens to go well with this tragidy:
UGK - One Day
02 One Day.mp3

"Uh the bitch, been good to me
Been bad to my homies, keep it cool with me
I played it by the rules, and the regulations
I use to switch cars with the Mexican, at the gas station
Mine had money in it, his had the work
After the deal was done, I make my girl pussy squirt
Cause after the deal, we would all celebrate
Happy cause it wasn't no jacking, and the product was straight
I never came, with the funny business
That's why we steady playing in Jags, and Benzes
Some ******, let the city eat em up
I was just coming up, whipping my pyrex steady beating it up
I'm a shark with the fork, microwave or pot
I'ma hit it with the Sprite, and make that butter lock
Everything was cool, I was ice cold
Till I let that bitch, get up in my nose"

"I know you bless the child that go get it
I'm the product of the ghetto, the flame of the city
So I talk the language of the ave
Forgive my dirty mouth please, I'm whippin slabs
Fifties, quarters and the whole thangs
Balance on my life on the fo' beam
And I need codeine just to say sane
I'm steady prayin to you but I don't know your real name"

"But I'm under the impression that if your heart is in the right place
your prayers gon' get heard anyway
So some say Jah Jah, some say Allah
Some say Jesus, some say... Yeshua Ben'ta, knahmalkinbout
Ay man I just look like this man, knahmtalkinbout
I ain't get this far bein no square man
You wanna hide some'n from black folks, they say you can put it in a book
I don't believe that
Cause I done read fo' libraries worth of books
I got some knowledge y'all need to get up on mayne
But hold a pair of hearts, knahmtalkinbout
For they laws and power, knahmsayin the art of war
The secret societies of America, knahmtalkinbout
Everythang ain't what it look like man
And don't judge every book by it's cover... ya dig!
Hold up"

"We blow big everyday
But that don't stop our pain
Or bring back our homeboys that we done lost off in this dirty game
Got ****** doin 40
When you 25 that's life
I guess when your career is sellin dope somebody got to pay the price
These bitch ass ****** shife
****** might snitch out they momma
That's why me and Leroy watch stay strapped and ready for all drama
Cause we ain't promised tommorow
But ***** you promised to die
***** can't you see you gettin to high trippin of that potent fry
At night I talk to God and try to understand
How people can worship false prophets and say prayers to a man
I guess they already gone, ain't nothin gone bring them back
So I just say thanks for what I got and blow on indo sacks
I still love my piece and chain, wood grain and big head ones
But I had to realize in life everything ain't always fun
I guess that's true for some
But them hoes will never win
Out here just hustlin and grindin
Tryin to change from ****** to men"

RIP

and I guess its time to get started on my Library of a Legend for Pimp C.

He was never a favorite of mine, but One Day is by far my favorite song that UGK ever did. It's weird having seen him live several times and then he's gone. Dude was cool, but had a lot of problems.

He came to Detroit back in 2001 and was kicking it with everyone at St. Lawrence. Him & Trick-Trick were blowing lines like no tomorrow. Cain and all the other drugs probably had something to do with his death which sucks but its part of living the high-life...even if you stop that **** still caches up down the road.

I don't doubt it man. I just don't want to speculate until I find out for sure what happened.
