Tavoris Cloud

Tavoris Cloud started boxing at the age of 16. He turned pro in April of 2004 after compiling a 46-8 amateur record. Cloud also represented his the USA at the 2000 U19 World Championships. Two years later Cloud made it all the way to the finals of the 2002 US-Championships but came up short, losing to Curtis Stevens.

Currently record is 20-0 with an impressive 90% KO ratio (18).

Cloud vs. Gonzalez

On August 8, 2008, at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, Cloud defeated former WBO light-heavyweight champion Julio César González by 10th round TKO in what was an IBF Light-Heavyweight Title eliminator. As Cloud always does, he came out firing, putting huge amounts of pressue on his opponent. He was able to hurt Gonzalez multiple times in the opening stanza. Gonzalez' attempts to keep the fight in the middle of the ring were futile as the stronger and more determined Cloud kept sending him back to the ropes with his relentless pressure. After 10 mostly one sided rounds, the referee call a halt to the action.

Cloud vs. Woods

Tavoris won the IBF Light-Heavyweight (vacated by Chad Dawson) world title on August 28th 2009 in an eliminator against hardened veteran Clinton Woods. Similar to the Gonzalez fight, Woods was hurt multiple times and took a serious beating at the hands of Cloud. Cloud eclipsed the 1000 punch mark in the fight and while Woods was game at times, landing some solid shots, Woods' lack of punching power was his ultimate undoing. Woods was unable to keep Cloud on the outside where he could have used his superior height and reach. The final result was a Cloud victory by way of a wide 12 round unanimous decision.
