Patterson would have been able to avoid Marciano's punches for a couple rounds, but then Marciano would find a way around Patterson's defence, like he usually did.
I met Patterson several times. I even sat next to him and talked to him for approx. 4 hours straight. He was a Class guy.

It would have been interesting because of the speed of hand Patterson had, BUT again, if Rocky connected, it would have been all over.

Most of the great boxers of old have been kicking off recently to the great ring in the sky.:(

Patterson, Pep, Giardello, and Schmelling at least made it past 65. Some don't even make it that far.

I knew that you knew. I just made sure that everybody else knew.

Schmeling surprised me. He took such major hits to the head from Max Baer and Joe Louis, and yet he lives to be 99? makes no sense. lol.

RIP Schmeling 1905-2005

I don't know many details, but I saw a thing on TV where some people truly only die from old age, and live to be around 100 and still be in good health. Maybe Max was one of those people.:dunno:

There was an 100 year old man who ran a marathon. They asked him before he ran what he would do after he crossed the finish line, and he said that he would have a *** and a shot of whiskey. That "healthy" stuff that everybody has been telling us about is a bunch of bull crap.

I gave the Eulogy to Giardello and also stood in a New York ring and talked on Max Schmeling, Willie Pep and Floyd Patterson after they passed away.

I have been the President of the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame for 23 years and the hardest job I have is ringing the bell (I only ring it 9 times) at these places. I have done approx. 200 of them. In the last several months I gave the eulogy's for Joe Miceli, Rocky Castellani, Joey Giardello, Oscar Suarez and Eddie "Mad Dog" Johnson.

I have no idea why I put a question mark at the end of that sentance, I knew that Castellini was a good fighter. I was just wondering if he was the same Rocky that fought Robinson, which I guess he was. I had a chance to record that fight on my TV, I have no idea why I did not.
