Testify to this from personal experience. That's true BUT Holyfield fought a lot bigger man then Rocky did. That could have been why he fought that way. Bigger men seem to lay on you and wore you out more then lighter boxers do.
I agree BUT I think Larry would beat Rocky by out boxing him and winning by a UD or a late round stoppage.I think Larry had what it takes to last 15 rounds with Rocky... He would prabably have one hell of a hard time in the later rounds but I think he would make it and win a decision.
Jersey Joe Walcott was beating Marciano until that very moment. Yes he was fading a bit and Roacly was starting to take the fight, but I think Larry was much better than Walcott.
Rocky was outboxed in the early rounds, like always. and then in the middle rounds, solvent seeped into his eyes and blinded him until the later rounds. Jersey got luckyI think Larry had what it takes to last 15 rounds with Rocky... He would prabably have one hell of a hard time in the later rounds but I think he would make it and win a decision.

He never fought a contender? what about Walcott, Charles, La Starza, Cockell, Savold, Layne, and Jesus. thats right he fought Jesus. Marciano KO'd Jesus, and then Jesus got mad and took his bible and made all of the witnesses forget what had happened. Rocky was 3 years old. At that time he was in his primeI agree BUT I think Larry would beat Rocky by out boxing him and winning by a UD or a late round stoppage.
Remember, Rocky never fought a heavyweight contender besides Louis, when he was way past his prime, that weighed over 200 pounds and was over 6' tall.
I believe Larry would be too big for Rocky.
Larry was 6'3" and had a reach of 81" to Rocky's 5'10-1/2" and 68".
First paragraph, he specified a height and weight of the contender. He never fought a contender? what about Walcott, Charles, La Starza, Cockell, Savold, Layne, and Jesus. thats right he fought Jesus. Rocky Marciano was the most phyisically fit fighter of all time. He ran 15 miles a day, hit the heavybag for 60 rounds a day, and he sparred for 85 rounds a day. Are you seriously telling me that Evander Holyfield is capable of doing even half of that?
...what the hell are you talking about?Well than, would anybody like to tell me how he really trained than? Cuz' everytime that I say that, nobody has said a damn thing about the rabbits. nobody thinks about the rabbits. How would you like it if i hit YOUR dog?

You act like you dont know *breaks down into tears*Obama said:...what the hell are you talking about?
I was waiting for someone to bring him up.
Vingo was not a top 10 contender. He was 16-1-0 when he fought Rocky. In his last 7 bouts before he fought Rocky he had only 1 KO, and that was against a boxer that was making his pro debut.
Also, before he fought Rocky, he never fought a bout that was scheduled for more then 6 rounds. AND he was just 2 days passed his 20th birthday.
Good Prospect, BUT far from a contender.
Rocky had no problems with bigger guys, but he had problems twice with Ted Lowry who stood 5"10.I think Rocky's strength and volume would break Larry down a bit.
Again people equate weight and size with greatness and winning. Size and weight have little advantage when you are comparing fighters of Marciano's caliber. Rocky never had problems with big guys, however, he had problems with Ted Lowry who stood 5"10. Did you forget Tyson who stood 5"10 and half smaller than Rocky, who was knocking out the giants of his era. The Mike Casey Archive | The Cyber Boxing ZoneBesides Louis, who was way past his prime, Rocky never fought a top 10 contender that was close to Holmes's size. In fact he never fought a top 10 contender that was over 6' and weighed over 200 pounds besides Louis.
If Rocky was boxing today, he would be a small cruiserweight.
