Self-Training

Does any one self-train? There are some fighters that have no trainer but instead train themselves. Has any one known a fighter to be self-trained that made it past a few fights?

I used to self train.
Taking from my experience. You can't become a champion that way.
Determination and sacrifice can carry you only so far.
You can win some fight here and there.
But if you want to really become great, you need a trainer.
I think that spending some time training yourself can be great if you keep setting goals for yourself, you can get pretty far but its hard work.
Working out yes, boxing training probably not

Being fit and in shape obviously goes hand in hand with boxing. I tend to work out on my own or with other boxers (legit ones usually golden gloves winners or working towards one). On days that I'm not lifting I'm boxing with my trainer. It works like ying and yang.
I agree, haveing someone - or a trainer- to work with is always better and keeps you going, but it doesnt mean that you cant come a long way yourself.
The Perfect Example

I won't be able to see my trainer for a couple months so he just told me what he wanted me to work on and I can do that on my own. He just wanted me to drop ten to fifteen pounds before I came back in three months. This keeps me focused on a goal throughout my summer.
He's told you that you need to drop 15 pounds before the end of summer. How do you plan on doing that? Is their a special diet with less calories or more active workouts for you? Sounds like you do alot already.

Well I actually put on a lot of lean muscle and eliminated a lot of fat over the summer. So now i'm much more ripped. Its more of a strength training routine really. 4 days at the gym per week, doing 1 hour of stationary bike cardio 5 days a week. With a healthy diet, its amazing. I love my new body, I don't even recognize myself in the mirror anymore.
Well it sounds like you surpassed your goals with your training and diet. And I used to do stationary bike for 1 hour each day of the week too. It was a few years ago, but the bike is my personal favorite for shaping up.
The bike really is great. Just put on some music and escape in your own little world for an hour. I should also add that I use Whey Protein and No-Xplode and the difference when using these products is noticeable.
Go onto everlastboxing.com they have some video tapes on how to box, it also has equpment and gear to.
Well I never tried those nutritious suppliments with my bike excercise program. I was just eating a healthy diet at the time but I couldn't lose any calories because I had an infant at the time and I was feeding her. Which helps with weight loss after being pregnant.
The bike is great for you, so are tredmills, and swimming.
I do love to swim. I was raised swimming, but beleive it or not I've never done the treadmill. I'd rather go outside and run in person.
Yeah, I would prefer to run outside to, but I theres no where for me to run.
We live in a neighborhood with sidewalks but it has too much traffic for you to run. I'd be too self conscious, so I would go somewhere else with a track that has trees and lots of air.
The only place I could run would be the track field at the football field.
A track and field sounds good to me. I am missing running a little. It's been a while since I last went running. That's give me such a lift.
