with fernando vargas and ricardo mayorga scheduled for june this is a realy interesting matchup i think.

fernando last time out against ssm looked a shot fighter, but in there previous fight was level on points going into round 9 of a 10 round contest before being stopped because of huge swelling ( actualy one of the worst cases ive ever seen ) around his eye. ive always admired the heart and gut's of fernando and will give him the benefit of the doubt that traing camp did go bad last time out.

im gonna say vargas the boxer puncher will come back better than ever and stop mayorga around 6 much like oscar done, saying that i hold mayorga in about as low an estem as floyd mayweather.

tommy i would agree with you on this one. Fernando has the bestter boxing skills and probably has the edge with power. This is a great matchup and will be a great fight.

He should retire. His speed had diminished, and hes taken alot of punishment in has last few fights. All Mayorga does is throw bombs, so he should be able to beat him if he can avoid the haymakers from ricardo. Hopefully this is the last fight we see from both of them, although I will admit this is an interesting pairing.

mayorga is no more than a home run hitter and was exposed by oscar, fernando will love this fight being a war, he's a true warrior and one bad showing doesn't count him out ssm was or should i say is still on his day a p4p fighter.

Mayorga keeps gettin lured into these fights at higher weight classe & its killing his career.

I heard this fight may be at a catch weight of 162 or something. 160 at the lightest.
Mayorga was impressive at 147 but did not have the same power at 154. Now goin up again will do nothing but hurt him. I guess money talks.

Only way I see him beating Vargas is by outworking Fernando. Try to throw more every round & maybe win a decision or he could stop him late then.

Vargas was never any good in the first place and should of retired a long time ago. If you use steroids and you still get your ass whooped you just need to call it a day. Mayoraga sucks also. He has no skills whatsoever. I don't like either of these fighters but unless Mayoraga somehow catches Vargas with a hard shot I think Vargas wins.

as a fighter i would never say when another fighters time is up, even when ive heard people say that evander should call it a day i could never tell or say to a fighter your time is up, boxing isnt just a sport its a way of life.

well he said he wanted a fight early 07 and with maskaev being forced to defend against peter and briggs liakovich signed it only leaves klitschko becaus the giant fights soon against mcline. :dunno:
