Hopkins

As long as Hopkins does not get frustrated in the middle or later rounds he will win it. He has the power and experience to score th knock out and if he tastes blood early it won't go far. his down fall is that when he gets frustrated he gets sloppy and pushes the rules. No disrespect intended but he can turn thigns into an organized street fight when he loses his focus.

I don't think Hopkins stands a chance, even though he is the favored fighter. He is moving up a 2 weightclasses, which I silly since this is the last fight of his career. It's not like he is Sugar Ray Robinson, what is he trying to prove? I know he has been training for awhile, but adding an extra 15 lbs or so to his frame, could prove to be a bad move. He could be sluggish and slow, by screwing with is metabolism like that. Since he is a slow starter anyway, he can't afford to be sluggish in the beginning. Tarver will take full advantage of Hopkins in the first rounds. I think we will only see a couple good rounds from Hopkins. I don't think he will have any staying power with the extra weight. I guess win or lose, he is going out with a bang. I don't think we will see a knockout at all, I think it will be Tarver by decision. My husband is taking Tarver in 6, and Tarver said he will have Hopkins out in 5. Only time will tell, tonights the night.

I am coming back to eat my words, good thing I skipped breakfast. The only thing I was right about was coming to decision. I was pretty sure we wouldn't see a knockout, but I here Hopkins knocked Tarver down in the 5th. I want to see the replay of the fight, hopefully it will be on next week sometime before the Taylor/Wright bout.

In his prime now...I don't know about that. I knew he'd be hungry this time (after losing his last two bouts), I just didn't think he could do it. Guess it wasn't the first time I have been wrong...or the last for that matter. lol

For what it's worth LadyViper, I could see where you were coming from before the fight, I jsut didn't agree with it. Hopkins is a monster at any weight or age. BUt, I give credit to Tarver, I thought he would go down more than once.

I just saw the fight for the 3rd time and even me liking B-Hop I have to say.
He fights one hell of a Dirty Fight.
The people you blame for this are the refs. They only look for low blows and rabbit punches.
I would have warned him and taken points for holding and punching and lounging in with his head.
The other people to blame are the opponents corner for not talking about this at the pre fight press conference and bringing the commissions attention to it in front of the cameras that will make them talk to the ref about it and may be make it a clean fight.

I am just glad that no one asked me to place a bet on that fight. Tarver had:age, weight and record, going in. B-Hop has to get all praise for pulling off a great victory. As far as dirty fighting goes: Which fighter does not get in a few licks of dirty fighting once in a while? Afterall we do call it fighting.
