I know he was latecomer to boxing and turned Pro at 28... he even became a heavyweight champion. But was he one of the greats? Did he have any good technique? Also... what were his stats (HEIGHT AND WEIGHT) because I can't seem to find anything about him!

One more thing... I will be a PRO BOXER by the end of the year 2008 I SWEAR!

Talk all James "Bonecrusher" Smith STUFF in this thread right here!!!:cheeky4:

James Smith was 6'4 82 inch reach. Of course his weight varies but fought around 230 to 245 most of his career. Finished with a 44-17-1 (32 ko's) record.

Was Ko'd in his 1st fight. Lost to Bill's idol Holmes in his 1st chance at a title.
His only 2 decent wins where Frank Bruno & Tim Witherspoon. He beat Witherspoon for the WBA title then lost in his next fight to Tyson.

After writing this I found this link.

Smith wasn't that great, he was medium compared to the greats. He was like Gerry Cooney, he could beat the easy people but not the good ones.

BONECRUSHER

Just saying it out aloud really makes you think of it as a pretty cool nickname!
Yeah, why do the greats get stuck with the crappy names yet the medium guys get the cool ones?
James "Bonecrusher" Smith simply sounds like a brawler... was that all he was?

In-Fighter? Out-Fighter? Swarmer? Hybrid? "Or something I have never heard of?"
He sort of stayed on the outside BUT he stayed there and punched from there.

So an Out-Fighter?
I guess you could call him that.
