For two super middleweight fighters who may wind up in opposite corners this November, WBA-WBC champion Mikkel Kessler and boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. are quite agreeable.

Jones, who has a July 14 PPV TV date upcoming in Biloxi, Ms., against Anthony Hanshaw, said that WBO 168-pound champ Joe Calzaghe and his promoter Frank Warren have completely given him the runaround. According to the 50-4 future Hall Of Famer, Super Joe and Warren were never serious about making a Jones-Cazlaghe fight.

“They wanted me to go to England to fight Joe and I said yes,” Jones said. “But they make a lowball offer. They never thought I’d agree to go his country to fight Joe so I fooled them. My phone stopped ringing after I told them and the world I would go there to fight Joe. Now it would be stupid for me to chase Joe around. If I win this fight, and I’m not looking past Hanshaw by any means, then maybe I can fight Kessler for his two titles in November. Kessler sounds serious about fighting me so I’d be stupid not to look into it. I don’t duck and dodge nobody.”

For his part, the unbeaten Dane feels much the same way.

“My promoter, Mogens Palle, went to Frank Warren’s office and got the runaround. It would be an honor for me to match my skills against Roy Jones. Roy is one of my boxing idols, he and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Just like Roy, my promoter told Warren I’d fight Calzaghe anywhere they want in the UK. They wanted the fight for Sept. 22 and we wanted it for November. We agreed to their venue, their date and all we got was a laughable offer,” the 28-year-old Kessler said. “You would think that, after the Peter Manfredo embarrassment, Joe and Frank would want the toughest, most credible super middleweight opponent they could find. That’s me.”

Another point of agreement between RJJ and the “Viking Warrior” is that it’s past time for the 35-year-old Welshman to pick on someone his own size.

“Why would Calzaghe want to fight a middleweight like Jermain Taylor? Palle said. “You don’t see either Mikkel or Roy Jones picking on smaller men. Should Jones beat the tough Hanshaw, we could have a marvelous November Jones-Kessler promotion in Copenhagen come November. That will be the time of my 50th anniversary as a promoter. It would be the best super middleweight ever against Kessler, who is the best at 168 pounds today.”

Jones is promoted by Murad Muhammad. Muhammad concurs with the fighters and Palle that Jones-Kessler would be a hot match.

“It would be a huge fight in the US also,” Muhammad said. “I think Frank Warren is looking for another cupcake like poor Manfredo. You know Roy Jones’ history. He runs to challenges not away from them. I could sit down with Mr. Palle and we can figure out where Jones-Kessler makes sense. It makes sense where it makes the most dollars.”

So, while Calzaghe continues to duck and dodge like “The Scarlet Pimpernel,” don’t be surprised if Roy Jones Jr. and Mikkel Kessler strike a very hot match this autumn.

If you read all this please dont turn this into a who ducked who thread. It was all in the past and im just looking towards the future, you cant blame calzaghe and kessler for not wanting to fight each other because 1 fighter will lose their , although they should fight each other, i wouldnt say they are ducking anyone, just state your oppinion. Thanks.

just more proof of how Calzaghe is a B*TCH! I already said that JOE has been ducking ROY for awhile now. Cal is in a SMALL corner now and all he can do is just talk and talk and talk lol:laugh: HEY maybe you calzaghe fans might wake up now and realize what a chump ya boy is. I know, i know, you guys are starting to worry that i may be right huh?? well SOOON enough the light will shine over your heads and you will finally understand, and i understand that some people are just slow, so i'm not hating. But Thats cool I'm glad they are looking past that PUSSY, they should just forget him anyway. I think hes just waiting on another reality show contender to come along so he can add another win to all the other amateurs on his card. But Kessler needs to go ahead and rape cals a$$ and then fight roy. Man that would be a good fight and I would be a nervous RJJ fan if that happened. Especially when he comes off a KO win of CALzaghe.

Come on guys, the RJJ fight is an obvious no-win fight for Calzaghe. If he wins, haters like WES just say RJJ was past it and Calzaghe is picking on guys that are done. Then if he fights Kessler and wins, the haters come back again "Kessler was just over-hyped, Calzaghe's fighting BUMS".

Im getting bored of the "Calzaghe is ducking everyone" though. It is said there is two sides to every story, and Palle, RJJs team and Taylor's team are by no means completely free of blame that the fights havent been made.

Kessler "over-hyped" ?? He has the two "real" belts in this weight class and is a terrific fighter. Joe needs to man up already. Im losing respect for him every day he continues this crap. Calling out the best fighters, but not "really", when you will only fight at home, and offer insulting purses basically forcing blockbuster opponents to walk away from the table.

What a JOKE

I would like to hear from the other side. (Calzaghe's team)
I think they need to tell their side of the story also. Not that I don't think they would ever do something like this, just they have two camps saying they same thing and if they don't come out with something, I for one will think it is true. They should just come out and make a fight with one. If this is true then it is BS.

like i said, please dont turn this into who ducks who ****, no matter where you go in boxing anymore, people talk about who they ducked more than the actually fighters. Its getting pretty annoying and you guys are aiding in the downfall of boxing.

very true... lol you cal nut huggers still crack me up and im not talking about you tysonjones... you have a point and i'll stop commenting about calzaghe ("b*tch boy") and how he is ducking everyone, because MOST of us know the truth... the rest will only find out when he actually will man up and fight.

yes i said i would give him props for fighting any one of the guys hes called out. Especially if he does it here in the US... and ESPECIALLY if he does it and wins and wins dominantly. I will have a lot of words to eat if he did that. But i don't see it happenings so im really not worried about it.. but either way I will have some respect for him when he steps into US soil and fights a real contender/champ what ever.. and I will take my hat off to him if he actually wins a legit fight.

Like i said i don't hate the man I just cant stand a guy that talks and wont even come over here to back it up.

lol you guys are crazy, all i have to say is WHO CARES???? we all have our favorites and we all dislike some fighters. But calzaghe and kessler and rj, are all great fighters, anyone who can go 40 plus wins with no losses, is great in my mind, no matter who they fought ( and they had to fight someone because they all have held titles )

You have a fair point man. Maybe iv been alittle harsh on RJJ and Kessler, but i personally think Cal would beat them both at the moment. RJJ has been great, but i think hes done. And Kessler has shown some good skills and could go onto dominate 168 when Cal has gone. But for me, Joe beats them both:cheeky4:

This is the last im gonna talk about the Calzaghe/Kessler/Taylor/ RJJ think until some fight is made concrete anyways:thumbsup:

it just goes to show some of our members have a very limited knowledge of boxing, they look at joes record and say he's faught bums..lol....woodhall and reid were top 3 guys when joe punk'd them, sheika was top 5 and mando to joe, veit was a former 2 time champ, brewer was a 2 time champ, mitchell was a champ and was tipped to win, lacy was a betting favourie. and eubank was a legend.

bring on the robot or snailor, both guys get dominated, hop knows he'll lose and winky has no right being in with joe.
