Hi guys, I'm 16 and have been training for about a year and a half now and im going to be fighting in late April-early May I think. I was wondering if it seems like iv been training too long before my first, or have I not been training long enough. Also how long do amateurs usually train before their first fight. Thanks!

TBH you can never train too long. You ahve been learning the skills to empower you to fight. Now that you have a fight in the pipeline you can train for the fight itself. I would have my Ama fighters train hard for 6 weeks before a big fight. Do you normal then spar at least double the rounds that you intend to fight. If you at fighting 3 x 2 min rnds then I would spar 5-6 x 3 min rounds with 1 min break. Stop sparring 3 days before your fight and on the last 2 days do light workouts to allow the body to recoverbefore the fight.

This is only how I would train my fighters, others may have differing opinions and they may suit you better, but this is the technique in my gym.
